Can anyone advise what the general consensus is on a PDK R?
FIL is looking to sell his and im not sure on the desirability of the PDK vs manual. My initial suspicion is less desirable but I am not that clued up on cayman R's.
This should be an interesting one. Be prepared for ‘good for scrap’ through to ‘my preference was for a PDK car’.......FIL is looking to sell his and im not sure on the desirability of the PDK vs manual. My initial suspicion is less desirable but I am not that clued up on cayman R's.
Im tempted myself as he's in his 70s and owned it 5 years so i know the history and its never been on track,. I just dont know if i could live with peridot!
It sounds like a nice car - personally an R for me would have to be manual, however exploitation of the chasis on these cars is where most pleasure is found and if you can get the car for a good price then go for it. Re the seats, as an 78kg 6 foot male I can spend all day in them in total comfort and the only (slight) issue with them for daily use is that getting in or out of them isn't the most fun, but far from a deal breaker. Ultimately you need to decide if you could live with it daily but it's not exactly a Caterham on that front, though aslo not an S-Class.

The car is currently garaged since february time and only taken out to keep it ticking over. He's got a new 340i touring and thats taken over 99% of journeys

haha, yeah i know the looks of the tesla are divisive, i suppose i should re-prhase, i could put up with the seats, its the the lack of pace compared to the tesla that would be an issue. sorry, couldn't resist <-- btw before anyone goes in to meltdown, calm down its a joke!
The joke wasn't lost on me, don't worry.I would quite genuinely be curious to drive the two cars back to back down one of my favourite Scottish B roads. I wonder what their comparative cross-country pace would be like and, more subjectively, driving pleasure. I suspect I know what I'd conclude, but I try not to prejudge these things. Anyway, on the pace front, you can get all the Cayman performance by just booting it without having to agree to any cringey messages about not wanting your "mommy".

The speed of the Tesla is very impressive, and tbh the handling is better than most would expect, bordering on fun, but, it's not a sports car.

These things are a bit like one of the birds on Fake Taxi, once upon a time it was a well proportioned, aesthetically pleasing thing that went well, now after various bodywork enlargements ,lots of filler and a dodgy lip, it looks a fecking state.....https://youtu.be/duFb4eCcDak?t=22
Probably still goes well though.
OPC Bristol one is Silver over red....
Strong money for no buckets and PDK.

I actually really like it although shame it’s not got the buckets but I think the red and full leather in silver looks good,
Changing subject - do zunsport grills fit the R? Are they the same as the standard 987.2 and are they are simple DIY job or is it one for the Indy to do? Got some new air con condensers so think it might be time to get some of these.
Cheers

Yes to all.
Are these grilles a must have? I have never liked the look of them. How perilous is it to not have them installed?Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
