Very impressed so far, pedal is a lot firmer so very happy with that, had to remove some wheel weights so need to get rebalanced but otherwise only difference at present is steering is marginally heavier but totally worth it for the insane braking power
Can't deny it, they do (as does all BG's stuff) look awesome. I can't say I'm surprised the steering's a bit weightier now Very impressed so far, pedal is a lot firmer so very happy with that, had to remove some wheel weights so need to get rebalanced but otherwise only difference at present is steering is marginally heavier but totally worth it for the insane braking power
Looking into my crystal ball, I see tyres turning relative to wheels and the imprint of a head on the inside of the passenger side of the windscreen
Have you by chance already fitted the much debated 997 GT3 master cylinder ?
And nope standard master cylinder still, had debated it but after driving 100 miles in it today I’ve decided really doesn’t need it, the pedal is still progressive enough for a good heel toe, but firm enough to give confidence it’s going to throw me out the seat! If anything I thing I need a harness

Thank you. These are nice but the original has that leather pouch that fits in the door sill hole. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174491355527
It’s now gone past £100 so I am going to forget it.
I like the concept of it, but it’ll probably end up £150 and that seems silly money.

Just get one of these. They are brilliant and best of all you don't have to hold them and they are windproof. I went for the blue.

In fairness to Paul, he does live in Scotland, where it tends to be wee bit wetter and a wee bit windier than "Lockdown" Leicestershire ...
its a daft topic for a car forum, but unless you are a pro hiker a £90 North face does the same job.A item is either wind and rain proof or not. All down to the sealed seams you see :-)

Very nice I'm sure, but it's a non-starter as it has no pit zips, and you can't put a price on them.
Sealed beams ? It's a long time since I drove a car with them fitted

They do look good. The tolerances on the caliper may invite the occasional stone which will score the inner circumference of your wheel. Makes a right mess of the caliper paint too. Had it on two of my cars with PCCB and tolerances look similar. Yep sorry to say this will score your wheel barrels :-( and still not a fan of the gyro effect on the added weight.PCCB have way more tolerance than this looks like.
350mm for the win imo and bad advice from the race shop on two accounts.

If you're interested @Julian987R, I have the original umbrella with case which was supplied with my Cayman R when I bought it new. You don't accept DM so if you're interested, DM me otherwise I'm going to pop it on to eBay.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174491355527

But as you mention it, North Face is a fashion brand these days. They haven't made a decent jacket for about 10 years. I know, I've had a few. If you are the type who does any proper outdoors hiking, climbing etc then you know the value in decent kit. My mates still wearing his 20 year old Arcteryx jacked that looks like new. My £250 North Face one was falling to bits in 2 years. You may not appreciate or need decent outdoor kit, but you get what you pay for with it and if you've ever been up a mountain when the weather comes in you'll understand the role good kit plays. You don't need to be a pro hiker... whatever one of those would be.
You're right about it being a daft topic for a car forum at least

pro as in you get paid to do this stuff or are very serious or go up Ben Nevis in Jan at -20oc.
As for any hobby, look at all the guys on £15k race bikes now but ave 16 mph ! lol
I have owned some of my Northface for >10 years, it's not on trend but it does work. if you do this serious stuff wears out of course and people do love KIt and the latest trends.

Spotted these on Instagram - that's a lot of brake! They certainly look the part. I suspect I'll need some pads and discs soon and I fancy an upgrade on OEM, but something a bit cheaper as it's just a fast road car for me.Very impressed so far, pedal is a lot firmer so very happy with that, had to remove some wheel weights so need to get rebalanced but otherwise only difference at present is steering is marginally heavier but totally worth it for the insane braking power

Warranty sounds great, but they are warranting that they have put the garmet together as it should have been and that the fabric etc wasn't defective. That isn't the same as warranting the design being poor leading to failure which is what has happened on my NF products. I used to wear their stuff all the time but ditched it when they started to be more interested in fashion than outdoor performance. pro as in you get paid to do this stuff or are very serious or go up Ben Nevis in Jan at -20oc.

I started 2020 by going up a mountain only a little lower than Ben Nevis. Mate and I had lunch at the top. It was -10 and around -17 with windchill. I'm no "pro" but I am not the type to thinks the tourist path up Snowdon in mountaineering.
If your stuff is over 10 years old it may be from when they were still making things reasonably, however if it wears out then I'd highly advise you look elsewhere for the replacement. You don't need to spend Arcteryx money, however what Arcteryx do is take all the previous years new tech/designs etc from other manufacturers, see what worked and then make the best they can using what has been learned from studying this. So actually their gear that is not about the latest trends, but the best proven tech.
However, I'd take almost any jacket over a Porsche umbrella which wont work if there is wind, give you arm ache lugging it around, be a total menace to anyone else on the pavement and then be a pain in the ass to dry when it gets wet.

I was in a group enjoying a meal in an Indian restaurant some years ago, one rather vocal individual dominated the proceedings ... he got on to his new phone, and how brilliant it was. He went on to say the company that manufactured it was brilliant too.
He thought this because the phone had stopped working on 3 occasions and each time he'd received a new replacement phone the same day.
Someone somewhat tersely pointed out precisely what I was thinking, that being if the product and company that were that good, their products wouldn't break and need replacing 3 times ... the silence and tension was palpable briefly
Buy decent gear in the first place, and won't need to rely on a warranty.
Anyway, enough on umbrellas, outdoor gear and warranties, and back to big brake kits !!

I posted a link to a bigger single piece disc kit for £300 if that is value to you. edc said:

Yeah I spotted that. I need to investigate. The car wont see much use now until spring so I have time, but it is a possibility I'll look into. IIRC that was front end increase only? Rightly or wrongly, I generally prefer to keep brakes the same ratio as they would have been from factory, although on one previous car I had I upgraded just the fronts and brake balance was fine.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
