Thanks gents, much appreciated.
Might hawk to it some dealers, any recommendations on where to start? Don't really want to reduce the price down by a couple of grand to get the phone ringing but seems like it's possibly the only option.
It looks a cracking example, but it's the wrong time of year to be selling really, add in CV-19, and the uncertainty over several key issues nationally and globally, and it makes getting top dollar tricky currently.Might hawk to it some dealers, any recommendations on where to start? 911V will have the car on SOR, and with their reputation they'll get strong money for it.
Ashgood seem to be doing something right, so it's worthwhile getting a bid of them if you want out of it cleanly, rather than having it on SOR.
Unfortunately PDK cars do seem to need to be priced keenly to sell quickly.

The grey R at Ashgoods has been there for a good few weeks now - tells you alot about the market. I doubt that would have lasted a few days back in the heady summer days of June/July...and that's a dealer sale - not private
Had a Gen 1 997 GT3 in Meteor, it’s a bit of Marmite colour.I had a test drive in a manual Meteor R, Spyder wheels, carbon fibre buckets, sports exhaust etc. Loved the car, didn’t think Meteor did it any favours, so I passed on it and went Guards red instead.
Meteor and PDK makes for a tough sale.
To be honest, I’d choose Dissolved’s white car, or the GT silver 46K mile car on AT, over an example in Meteor.

Oh no, I knew my car was only good for scrap with it being PDK but now given it’s in Meteor I’ll have to pay someone to take it away! Any offers over £5 considered!I had a test drive in a manual Meteor R, Spyder wheels, carbon fibre buckets, sports exhaust etc. Loved the car, didn’t think Meteor did it any favours, so I passed on it and went Guards red instead.

For grey and auto my bid would've started with a 3 ...
But if it's all the same to you, I'll go with Guards and the quaint wobbly stick thing between the seats

I do like them in Guards! Is yours the one with the full leather buckets?Slippydiff said:
Was, it's now owned by another PH'er. I got £5.75 for it
Ha ha, yes sounds about right for one with that horrible stick you have to move just for changing gear!I actually tested your old one just before I bought mine. Must need my head examining for not going ahead with the purchase 😀

I just think £40k+ R's are going to get harder to achieve into next year
They are pumping out GTS 4.0 like there's no tomorrow (with discounts) and some buyers cars will be back up for sale next year as jobs market is a messy.
Lightly used GTS's with 15% off new price makes the case for an expensive R harder and harder....cars that may need £5k plus spent to get them back to their best...so less than £20k differential in price?

always be over £40k for sub 30k miles ones with all the right bits as only a 40 odd car pool to choose from and a lot of people staying put now. They are pumping out GTS 4.0 like there's no tomorrow (with discounts) and some buyers cars will be back up for sale next year as jobs market is a messy.

the last nice car for sale was £42k and was missing the PSE ! I would still buy the right car for £42k.
As always finding low mile cars is the thing, people do use these so the miles just grow which recuses prices.
GTS is £80k new with the right bits so 15% off that's not much so the gaps too big for people to make the jump.
GTS is not the same market imo, yes it might be the next Cayman R ish but will never feel as raw.
I have been looking for the perfect 997.2 S for 4 years, nothings really come up, that's the only R's competition imo at £45k. but even harder to find as no one wants to sell up.
the future for cars is doomed, so we will all rent an electric MIni or some thing, which means buying something older for fun to keep and the R wins over a GTS every day of the week for that keeper. (or the 987.2 Spyder in my case)
Seller of my R was buying a GTS.
I know of another guy that went for a new GTS 4.0 over a £40k R.
...And I don't know many Porsche owners but that's just two examples. These two markets are very much connected at the moment.
I'm just talking about the shorter term. The R is and will find it's place if you hold one long enough.
You can get a fine GTS with buckets for sub £75k if you include the 3.5% discount they are throwing about...
if people are holding their R's at sub 30k miles and barely driving them I wouldn't touch one TBH - Not good for the cars.

30k miles is ok even 15k is, if people are doing 2k a year the cars fine, it's the cars you see which do no miles for 7 years are the issue like the 997 RS or a Ferrari 355 these sort of cars sit for years not used.I know of another guy that went for a new GTS 4.0 over a £40k R.

you see people bailing from PDK cars, were the 2 cars nice cars manual ? as I have not seen any come up for sale so the 2 you talk about have vanished or PDK. As we both know PDK imo and 90% buyers don;t really gel with the R and PDK, a PDK owner will ALWAYS SELL UP.
The R found it's place, it's 10 years old and vs 911 undervalued as is, I took bets on PH with people 7 years ago that this car will be iconic and not drop in price, 10 years on still the same prices where many said they would be £10k cars.
we have a 40 car manual pool with cars with buckets and Spyder wheels etc, add all the spec prop 20/30 cars, you are never buying a 25k mile fully spoeced car under 40k as there will always be a buyer waiting for such cars.
I have not seen this 3.5% discount, they did it for about a month and good luck with any discounts now, I cannot even get a slot, easier to get a GT4 slot atm. I fancy a Python green manual coupe with buckets but it's £80k and that's a tough ask imo.
most for sale either have the 10mm sus or chairs or just rank spec or black !!!
very rare to see a bucket seated car with the 20mm lower sus. I looked at a few but who specs a green car with red stitching !!!
