That's kind of what I thought when I placed my advert. There was no real need nor did I even particularly want to sell , its just that I wasn't using it much so I thought I'd test that market and put it on at £45k just to see what would happen. I wasn't expecting to get a lot of interest at that price, but instead got 3 offers over £40k in the first day, 2 of which were £44k!
Where did you find was the best place to advertise it ? I put mine up for sale last year on Autotrader just before the world changed, never got round t or thought it was worthwhile re advertising it until now. I'm not to keen on autotrader to be honest so i was thinking of ebay ?

Wow, impressive and sad (that its gone) in equal measure. I'm in very similar circumstances, car is on 18k, no PSE but all other desirables but i have no idea what i would replace it with. As mentioned before by others i don't think there is anything in the price bracket that compares. What are you replacing it with ?asbi said:
Hi Folks,
I don't post very often, I'm a mate of Boxsey who used to be on here a lot until he got his GT4.
I bought my R back in 2016 and since then have kept it under OPC care and warranty solely because of a fear of the PDK failing which happened to a locally owned CS that I knew.
Having just picked my car up from a large service and having paid a large bill I am just wondering whether anyone on here has had any PDK woes, terminal or otherwise?
Any feedback gratefully received.
Thanks,
Kevin
I've done a lot of digging around and the only problems I see mentioned regularly are leaks. When I say regularly there are not many but they seem the most common. The bad news is Porsche do not sell parts for these boxes so even if you just need a simple seal you cannot buy one from Porsche. This then snowballs as gearbox specialists refuse to touch them because they can't get spares through Porsche. Porsche themselves will only supply a replacement gearbox complete. You can exchange your old box and I believe the price is around 6500 plus vat as an exchange. That's not bad considering. But if you just have a small leak caused by a simple seal which you can't replace then it's a big kick in the balls. I don't post very often, I'm a mate of Boxsey who used to be on here a lot until he got his GT4.

The PDK in my 981 has a leak but the cause of this might be due to a number of things. I mention this because I've ran the box low on fluid regularly and then topped it up myself without any specialist software and it just works. So it's simple enough to drain and top up at home with basic tools if you wish. I'd suggest this is the best way to keep your box running nicely. When my car starts developing a jerk when cold with its first shift from 1st to 2nd I know it is below its ideal level of clutch fluid. This jerk will get gradually worse and spread into the other gears and become detectable when warm and so on until eventually it starts throwing errors on the dash and limiting the gears available. I then top it up and it just works perfectly again.
There are some threads if you search where people have tried splitting these boxes and poking around inside. These talk about ZF parts inside as ZF make or designed these boxes originally. But it all feels a bit like guess work and there is nothing definitive out there if you ask me.
So I would say they seem robust enough and the gamble is reasonably low odds in favour of your car being fine over the longer term.

I have been a P customer for 20 years and love the product but their attitude leaves something to be desired sometimes, I bought my PDK R as I had a 964RS at the time(manual obviously) and fancied a bit of tech, on track it's quicker than a manual but a manual can be repaired :-)

I'm going on the Porsche Club Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way run in October...need to figure out what 17" or 18" rims to run as the 19" Spyders will kill me....
Anyone running a second set of rims ??
What can look decent.

I'd always hoped to come, if for no other reason than to put some faces to names. Sadly with the uncertainty over what would be allowed covid restriction wise, I wasn't really able to plan a trip. Hope everyone has fun and I'm sure there will be plenty pics. You might even be able to beat my 4 peridot car meet
