It was sunny this evening so I went for a 2 hour drive to the hills and fave B roads and further devalued this puppy. I swear I feel 10 years younger too.
Good man, nice to get the topic off values (AGAIN!) what's planned for yours next? smile

Actually looking at 18" wheel options to fit when I know I'll be going on less than ideal roads

Also plan to get car on stands and check the engine/transmission mounts. I'm getting a bit of transmissions shunt. Or maybe clutch is on way out?

Also need to fix drivers window actuator. Just doing alot of research before opening door up. I've got all the bits but might actually order a new outer door window seal to fit at the same time.

I've got a slight rattle from front drivers side over slow bumps

There other stuff on my list too...

Does anyone else perversely enjoy wearing their cars out and then fixing?

Perversely done it with my now 136k mile Clio 182.
It’s basically a brand new car apart from the bodyshell and engine internals. It’s quite expensive to play that game with the Cayman on the levels I’ve give to with the Clio.

Already done the mounts on the R, I fitted some RSS ones over lockdown 1. My next thing will be probably some more suspension bits, poly bushes, rear coffin arms, toe links etc etc.
Also need to grow a pair and fit my Numeric cables and shifter I’ve been banging on about for too long lol.

Do you have link to where you got your RSS.
Why did you go aftermarket and did you fit to engine and transmission?

I went RSS as my car has other RSS bits on and the quality is nice. Got mine from BBi Autosport in the US. Their service was excellent and I had the parts in my hand in 3 days.

I put a new set of PS4S's on my R and although I had thought my geo was ok I took it to Chris at CenterGravity today to have the Geo checked. Well many many hours later I got to drive it home and the transformation is incredible. I can't believe I was driving it round like it was before. I took it there because my race car goes there and I know Chris and Pete know there stuff, but this even shocked me how much better it felt. They truly are genius at their job cool

Fantastic, I had the geo on mine done earlier this year. There isn't anyone with the CG level of knowledge in this part of the UK (that I know of) and I basically got a fairly standard geo setup, but with front -ve camber maxed. Even that has transformed the car which had always run Porsche done geo before. It's miles more keen to turn in than it has ever been. I'm hoping the weather is decent this weekend as the car hasn't been out for a few weeks now.

I had my Cayman (a lowly 2.7) setup by them earlier in the year and as you say, the transformation was incredible. I'd been having a lot of issues with the alignment and had been getting wildly different results whenever I had it redone (I had it redone because I wasn't happy with the way it was driving). After CG worked their magic, it truly was like a different car. It now just pivots around the centre feeling perfectly balanced. Mine is running a fairly aggressive geo (adjustable arms) but now it has been setup properly, it feels entirely benign and totally dependable when leaning on it. Ironically I am still yet to get it out on track this year (for family reasons I had to cancel my track days before July) but I'm pretty confident that it'll be a hell of a lot easier to drive quickly now.

I have been pondering booking mine in with them for a little while, did they have to change any parts ? do you mind sharing the end cost ? (pm if you prefer ?)

I have read lots of positive stuff about there work on line and I have never had my car set up properly so I'm very tempted biggrin

Would you mind giving a flavour of work done and costs?

I'd be interested in that too (987 Spyder). I was under the impression that there wasn't much adjustability on these, but if there is, great!

The basic 1/2 day cost is £350 all inc. However we found the rear lower arm bushes were slightly worn and decided to change them. This was then compounded by the bolts being seized so we had to cut them out and replace the whole bottom arms and eccentric bolts/washers both sides which was really only marginally dearer than it would have been removing and replacing bushes and now I get new ball joints and centre bushes. All in all well worth it. All owners should check lower arm bolts as they run through an aluminium sleeve and weld themselves together.

To answer all the questions the total cost with lower arms and work involved to cut old ones out and replace etc (About 2 hours work by itself) was £694.79.

To be fair he worked through to 8.00PM to make sure it was finished.

Was that including the GEO?

Good to see they use Meyle control arms and seemed fair on price of them TBH.

Today I eventually got round to cleaning out the radiators with the use of an airline and some long pliers. I was astonished how much debris came out!

This was only one rad!

I also got chance to put it on the scales.

Vehicle spec:
Carbon buckets
Spyder wheels
Air con
PDK
Basic audio
64litre tank (very nearly full)
Giro big discs
1litre bottle of oil
About 2kg of tools
Half a packet of wrigley chewing gum

I was hoping to see it in the 1300s and just scraped in biggrin

I've been putting plenty of miles on my R recently. Picked it up at the end of November last year with 39700 on her, and just ticked over 40k this week.

Had a great time attending the 10yr Anniversary meet last weekend. Great to see so many lovely Cayman R's together and meet a lot of friendly owners.

Thursday I took her on her first proper road trip, doing a lap of Wales in a day! Unfortunately the weather wasn't quite what I had hoped for, being very Welsh the whole day which meant we didn't get to try out my friend's new FPV drone. Despite the rain though, the car was absolutely superb and took the weather and twisty roads in its stride.

We set off at 5am from Addlestone a and headed for the Elan Valley dams, which were absolutely stunning. From there we headed over to the North West coast to Barmouth for a bite to eat before heading into Snowdonia to find the B4391. The section from the A4212 that runs around the reservoirs is in my opinion the first bit of road in N Wales!

From there we headed to Bala for quick stop before heading home via Caffeine & Machine for a burger and a pit stop.

All in, 12hrs 25mins driving time and 567 miles! Can't wait to the next one!
