I did wonder if Ashgoods is the same car as this one from last summer. Had the same spec and mileage...

Good detective work! could well be if they have painted the front lip and completed the decal, which they could have done

Interested to see how this fares. Chairs, no PSE or Spyders and moon miles according to the experts.

That mileage is my target for the next few years smile

Now reserved, which lets face it, kind of means its sold.

Well, that's it then. A 60k+ miler with all the right bits must be a £40k thing now...

Car is now sold. Going to an owner up north who is super passionate and I can tell is going to be an amazing custodian. Wish him and you all very happy miles in your Rs. I will miss her terribly.

Congrats on the sale….What’s the replacement ?
Ideally a 991.1 GTS as I’d use the rear seats. Open to other suggestions.

coming from an R I reckon the Carrera T would be worth considering, its like the big brother to the R, well you know what I mean, the R and T seem to share a similar ethos, just with rear seats smile

In a way I’m thinking go for the GTS experience as I can’t then directly compare it to the R. If I did, then perhaps 997 GTS is where I’d put my money.

They’ve gone up in price by a fair bit over the last year.

Car prices have gone silly

That Sasso Automotive R they had for £52k was showing as "Under Offer" a week or so ago...it's actually gone now. I seem to recall it didn't have PSE...14k miles.

They still have this one...don't think it has AC. Funny how the advert for this one says it has the highly desirable PSE..bet they didn't tell that to the buyer if the £52k one smilesmile ...it's all fooken nuts IMO.

The car they have left is my old one - which I am beginning to regret ever selling :-(

You're right, it didn't have air con, but I didn't miss it once ... but I had the PSE on all the time. Given the choice between the two cars they had for sale I'd still have had my old car back, even if they were on at the same price.

I was the same when I was looking for mine. Didn't think I'd need it but mine has it and we did a long evening drive last week when it was humid and have to say with the buckets I really needed it to avoid dreaded 'sweaty back'.

Although, I do have the all the carpet covers off the engine including the bulkhead so maybe that has something to do with it smile

Feedback for anyone considering new tyres:

Had some PS4s fitted a couple of months ago, replacing the shagged Pirellis that were on it when I bought it (Autumn 2019). I'm pretty sure that they were the original tyres. The Michelins are not 'N' rated of course, but I am not interested in the expense of a Porsche warranty on a 10 year old car.

£650 fitted from BlackCircles; they were running a 15% discount on the tyre at that time. I used a BlackCircles fitter local to me (who did a superb job). They are excellent road tyres, much more confidence inspiring, more grip everywhere and more informative at both ends when they start to let go.
The Pirellis were seriously unpredictable (borderline lethal!) in the wet, though that might also have been their age. The PS4s' have a surprising sidewall compliance that has improved the ride considerably, though I do wonder how that will feel on a track (I do plan on a few track days). Maybe that is the 'N' rating difference? I do wonder if a track-only set of wheels/tyres is a possibility, though then I would have to store them. I'll try the PS4s first.

The tyres' tenacious grip and excellent feel has also highlighted that I need a geo set-up; the car could feel much more planted at the front and feels marginally unbalanced to me. Maybe time for my pilgrimage to CenterGravity...

The odometer finally nudged over 10,000 this week. The MoT guy did say it looked like new underneath.
I haven't had the planned use from the car due to C19, but intend to push that paltry mileage up!

Just spotted this: https://flatsixes.com/porsche-culture/porsche-fact...

Who am I to argue!

Hi all – Newbie CR owner here!

I have been contributing on these forums for a while. But more recently I been looking to buy my first Porsche and I have always wanted a Cayman R since seeing a new one in a Porsche dealer 10 years ago.

I finally found one very recently. A Peridot Cayman R example with low (ish) milage and all of the spec items I wanted. (Manual, short shift, buckets, spyders, PSE, chrono, a/c, alcantara wheel).

I picked it up last Thursday afternoon, then left for a trip the next day on Friday morning to the Scottish highlands and covered just shy of 1600 glorious miles. The car is absolutely stunning, and I now truly get why you all love your CRs so much. I had high expectations, but it is everything I was expecting and much more.

I may have a few newbie questions about things like CTEK chargers etc. But I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has helped with queries over the last few months, that have helped with my decision (special call out to Frayz).

And hope to catch up with some of you at a meet sometime over the summer.
