718 discount thread
Discussion
Ok, there has been a lot of talk about people getting a discount on their 718.
I have had a refundable deposit on one since May and want Jan/Feb delivery.
Dealer has said no discount.
I will quite happily buy elsewhere, so if you are shouting about getting a discount on your 718 please add your contact below so I can get in contact with them asap.

Two things, Dealer has said no discount.
1. If you've already put a deposit down to get a place in the delivery schedule why would they offer you a discount now? They've got a customer who's hot-to-trot.
2. How much money are you spending and how much of it is on "options"? You're much more likely to achieve some discount if you've ticked a load of high margin additions to the car. i.e. if they're looking at a £70,000 sale rather then a £40,000 sale.

1. I am quite happy to move my deposit - I was told no discount would be given by dealers but this seems certainly not the case!
2. My options come to £13.5k and while I can appreciate the car won't be discounted I think the options could be.

Has anyone ordered from c2c? trying to get some form of discount on a 718 is like getting blood from a stone with London OPC's. Any PM's appreciated with discount success stories.
As per my post above, the more you spend on options the easier it is to negotiate. IMO if you're buying a £40k base car it's pretty pointless trying to find any discount - the dealer's profit margin will be very small.Bear in mind that "nearly new" on a dealer forecourt will be much the same price as "brand new".

I suspect the low option route problem is compounded further by the fact that low option cars still eat into the OPC allocation but are less profitable.Bear in mind that "nearly new" on a dealer forecourt will be much the same price as "brand new".
What about importing one? I imported a Boxster back in 2001 from one of the Hamburg OPCs and got 5% discount without even asking when you'd never have got a penny off in the UK. The car was full C16 UK spec and factory collection was actually cheaper than getting it delivered to the OPC!
Don't let anyone tell you it's not the same car/spec or that you'll have trouble selling/insuring it - I have LOTS of experience of doing this (approx 100 cars imported) and the only real issue to deal with is ensuring you get a currency exchange rate that makes it all work for you

Interesting, I thought I had read somewhere else you couldnt do this anymore. A quick look at the German list price of 56k EUR on the base model means you would need more than 10% off with the current exchange rate of 1.16. Pre Brexit it might have been worth considering at 1.3 but does help to explain why margins must be tight and Uk discount is limited.
