Don’t get me wrong, its a stunning looking car but it doesn’t surprise me that a heavily specced Porsche has taken a relatively large tumble in such a short space of time.

I’d wager that someone who bought a lightly specced base model for example wouldn’t be looking at such a sharp drop in percentage terms over the same period.
Percentage wise depending on the exact spec, depreciation could be even worse.

Never did understand that argument.

It doesn't matter where the money went, the buyer spent 70K and anyone else buying one new would have to pay the same.

You can't just say, oh well 14K was VAT and remove it from the secondhand price.
I don't disagree with you. The point I was making though is disputing that the 718 is experiencing abnormal depreciation

I Will be ordering a 718 gts with options taking it to about £76k shortly.

Anyone know if discounts are still virtually impossible or tiny ?

Thanks for any help.

Given that they have not been making any cars for a few months I would be amazed if there would be any discounts available when production re starts - unless you are prepared to take some of the dealer specced stock that was built up prior to suspension of production

Coast2coast will get you a hassle free discount provided you’re prepared to use the dealer they send you to.

There are some small discounts, but it's not much. I had a quote for a GTS in the last week, and there was some movement on the price. That was taking finance with Porsche though, so if you're buying cash or using 3rd party finance, I'm not sure there's any wiggle room.

It has been mentioned above: With the devaluation of the GBP vs. EUR, prices in the UK are actually arelady very attractive compared to e.g. Germany. Porsche are probably thinking of how/when to correct for that. Hence there may be not much appetite to offer discounts if economics due to currency are already depressed

Honest question here: why not get a used GT4 for the same money? Lower depreciation on the GT4 would make any discount on the 718 pale in comparison

Coast2Coast will get you a discount - speak to Gordon there and he will put you in touch with an OPC...might cost you a flight to collect it but discount will easy cover that and a hotel room!

This is exactly what I'm looking at doing. Don't want to change until after the NY, so I'm holding off ordering anything, but a GT4 is more appealing for sure....

Exactly, extras add nothing to residuals apart from pdk. It will make your car more desirable against another that doesnt have them.

Thread from the dead I know, but Google showed this up..

So, current climate, do porsche 'do' discounts? Never bought one, other half fancies a boxster. If I have any influence it would be the GTS. She's paying tho so will be the 2.0 or maybe the S at a push!

My go to options are carwow and Drivethedeal but neither list porsche unsurprisingly. The thought of a haggle, especially if fruitless, is horrific!

Thanks, useful that. On a base 2.0 with no options it shows up as £2k off as a deposit contribution
And an additional £1300 discount (3%) so not a bad baseline to go with!

Given the current climate I'd say supply cannot keep up with demand, hence why prices are still so strong. Unless you/she absolutely has to put an order in right now, I'd be tempted to wait a few months into the traditionally slower market time of winter. You could be a salesman's wet dream come dreary and wet November/December if the showroom is quiet.

Also as I'm sure you'll appreciate, trying to secure an upfront discount might not be well received if pushed for by the salesman, but you may gain some leverage based on your purchase method. Even if you don't need to, consider purchasing on PCP and then settling if it's a keeper. If the dealer thinks they are going to get a healthy kickback/commission based on a PCP sale.

Yes will probably do pcp to provide a bit of certainty on residuals. No rush, current car is due up in March so I would have guessed around end of the year to coincide with that. Was just curious as to whether the concept of negotiation would be met with complete disgust!

Hi all
Always dreamed of having a Porsche, eyes on 718 cayman PDK.
Looking at cheapest way for 3 years....10k per year no options maybe metallic that’s it. Always loved smaller wheels on cars etc....after tyre roar for years on motorway maybe I’m getting old!
£10,500 + 36 x £331 on Porsche PCP is in budget.
2nd hand still £30 ish and I’m a sucker for a new motor.....
I normally lease my cars and it’s lots more, is the above cheapest way to drive 718 for 3 years?
No interest in owning or buying at end of PCP, can’t buy as pure evil ex wife and divorce on cards! Needs to be on finance
Cheers all

If you're after a second hand car, a better bet is to go through a third party finance broker like Magnitude or Oracle. My GT4 is with Magnitude and there's absolutely no way that Porsche could get anywhere near the interest rate or GFV.

Buying new, the Porsche finance sometimes ends up being cheaper over the term as they'll offer a hefty discount on the list price which ends up more than making up for the higher interest rate.

As with the actual car, shop around, get a few different quotes and weigh up your options. There's usually a sweet spot of deposit vs monthly payments i.e. huge deposits sometimes don't yield the best results long term as it's not in the financiers interest to loan you less money, so they'll up the interest rates as the loaned amount decreases.

It does confuse me as the 718 seems to have decent residuals when looking at AUCs but the PCPs are still quite costly for a 40-50k new car. I guess this is a combination of slim discounting and not particularly competitive APRs on the cars as they basically don't need to. I wonder whether people end up. With much equity in the cars at the end of PCP terms?

Will hopefully clear a few grand on mine when I come to sell it soon. So, a bit of equity, not a whole lot though. Settlement figure I think is 30, been offered 32 by OPC, will probably put it up on Wizzle.
