As per title. How good/bad will a brand spanking new OPC be? Will they import knowledgable Porsche trained people or will they all be trained from scratch and be 'new to the brand', with which comes a curate's egg of experience.
As per all exemplar examination questions, 'Discuss'.

I think there are two or three new OPCs coming this year or early 2018. There is definitely a new OPC coming to Stockton On Tees in March, the others I can't dredge from my swede.

What happens when a new OPC is built/franchised ? Do PCGB get an extra allocation of cars as they now haev one more dealer or do those cars come from PCGB's overall allocation ? i.e. Do other OPC's have less cars to sell ?

I think even if they got all of their staff from existing OPCs there will still be a learning curve as the new team gets to know each other and gel. For sales I'm sure they will be fine but I probably wouldn't want to get a service done there.

The flip side is that the staff in the new OPC will be amongst the most highly trained and most recently trained staff in the OPC network, but training does not trump experience IMHO.

As a company they are very protective of their brand so I have no doubt they will ensure plenty of training before opening.

If it's a Franchise or Porsche owned OPC, much like any company opening a new office it could be seen as an opportunity for existing staff to take on a new challenge or move up a pay grade.

There will be a business plan in place which factors in stock from day one and to ensure they have current demos for launch night etc.

Like any business needing to attract new customers there will need to be competitive pricing, certainly for used models and servicing. As cmoose points out the margin is on the macans and cayennes while they build up a customer base.

FWIW there is a new one opening for South London, Sidcup later this year.

Didn't know about Sidcup....I see it's a Jardine operated Franchise who already run Colchester, Cambridge and East London.

Not exclusive to Porsche and pretty common across other brands with the major dealer groups carving up geographies. i.e. if you live in Essex and Colchester is your nearest you're most likely to go to East London or Cambridge. So your competition for servicing etc is very much a known quantity!

Similarly Sytner have Solihull, Silverstone and Leicester in a block and also Edinburgh and Glasgow in another.

Music to my ears, as I am in Chislehurst... Do you know where exactly? The site of the old Lancaster Jaguar Dealership?

A service is typically just following a checklist for things that need to be changed or checked, hardly difficult or requiring much skill. If they were being tasked to diagnose a serious fault or change a Crank Shaft I could understand your concern. On the flip side, I took my car in for two new rear tyres to one of the UK's longest standing OPC's and they managed to over inflate them by 9 PSI. Failed to notice it when fitting the tyres, failed to notice it on the TPM and failed to notice it on the test drive. I think I would be tempted to try a new OPC who were eager to please rather than an established one who is tardy and resting on their laurels.

Correct. We should arrange a summer meet there once it's open.

Apparently a new OPC will get enhanced allocation from Porsche to help them establish.

Also, if you're lucky enough to be in the catchment, I guess you'll have a better chance to secure a halo car perhaps?

interesting stuff, I was surprised the Norwich OPC closed so quickly, guess there wasn't the population of P cars to support it

Most of us know more about the car we are buying or viewing than the sales person does , even in long established dealerships
