After purchasing a 987 gen 2 Cayman S and a fair bit of advice and searching on here I am keen to find a good fast road / occasional track day set up. I'd just about settled on the idea of Bilstein PSS9 but after a quick email to Ohlins about possible / expected 'Road and track' series 987 setup I received the following reply:

' We are working on a new Kit for both 986 and 987 and we think they should be ready at the end of April. '

I think others have asked before in years gone by and been told they working on it but I am tempted to wait until maybe June and see if it actually happens.

Am curious OP. Why hang out for the untried and untested Ohlins when the Bilsteins are (presumably) not brand new to the market and are therefore probably capable of a 'user review'?

You might want to talk to RPM Technik in Cheddington - they do lots of track prep work including changing suspension and have a full alignment rig too.

I guess it's the Ohlins DFV damper technology that is more of interest. Personally, I've just gone down the Koni FSD route. My analogy is kind of like a budget Ohlins damper (in price terms at least). Similarly, I don't know of anyone UK side who has tried the suspension set up I will have but I'm happy enough to have a go.

Thanks for the replies, suggestions. My interest stems from a few comments on previous posts and the fact that people had a while ago investigated when they might become available.

I then took the car to Centre Gravity for a check up who commented that Bilstein PSS9 and KW v3 were very good but what you really want is Ohlins but they don't yet make a product for the car, also read very good things about them on other cars including 997's etc.

In which case I won't be holding my breath but wait a while and see, sods law would dictate I go with the PSS9 and the Ohlins R+T will be available the week after.

I have had the Ohlins R&T dampers on my E46 M3 for over a year now and I rate them very very highly indeed, best suspension I have ever used on a road car, a little on the stiff side perhaps but other wise truly outstanding.

I was not looking for a track setup, I have been down that road before with Nitrons on several of my old Lotus's and mostly ended up regretting it except when on track, Ohlins are an excellent compromise.

I will certainly be looking at the 987 kit very closely when it comes out.

Don't Bilstein do a kit for a 987.1 with PASM? My 987 Boxster is getting a bit leggy now and wonder what the alternative is to keep PASM functionality. I'm sure I read somewhere that I can send the OEM Bilsteins back for a refurb, but haven't investigated that option.

But strangely, (for you anyway) you do not go on to state where I am wrong.

Fact - This is a red Porsche.

..... I just want to experiment to see if there is anything people won't have a trivial argument about on this forum!

Thanks for that, can you make sure your cousin does a proper job on them, if they'd like a Guinea 'Pork' for U.K. roads I'd be happy to oblige wink

Well I've contributed to 2 posts so far this year in the Porsche forum that you've been on, a mere fraction of the impressive number that you have yoursellf ruined with your characteristic petulant hyoerbole! But as always, don't let a simple fact distort your farcical delusion of grandeur! All the best my old chum!

Disagreeing with you or calling out your rancid attitude is trolling now?

Of course, how could any serious contributor question you.

This isn't your forum and I'm not alone in wishing that you would 'f off' as you so magnaminously put it.

Because you don't wade into threads, take them off track by making them all about you with your attention-seekingly contrary opinions, refuse to contemplate other people's points of view, or ever accept that you might be wrong about anything, do you?

Top that off by accusing others of 'nastiness', 'trolling' and 'ad-hom', whilst actually doing all three of those incessantly, and there it is: the very definition of a troll.

That's exactly what you do. Enter a thread, post a contrary opinion, drag some forum member(s) into an argument, and then when they don't agree with you, you get increasingly angry, much like a wasp, and insult them. Followed by possible skulking off. I could easily give some examples of this but really what's the point? As I said before, you aren't open to any criticism whatsoever.

Isn't it Valentines today? How come you aren't on a date tonight anyway? Surely some lucky lady out there would love to experience the supple ride of your non-standard 17 inches?
