I have just traded my GTS in for a GT4 and it is now up for sale with OPC Tewkesbury.
Anyone looking for a very special Boxster GTS please take a look it is a proper drivers car.

Wow that is some spec Geoff. Looks a stunning car and will no doubt make a great drive for the next owner.

I bought a Boxster GTS last month that had been advertised at Tewkesbury but I must say I would have been tempted by your car/spec.

It is early days at the minute as I need to run the GT4 in as it only had 300 miles on the clock when collected, I have put another 200 on over the weekend but will have to wait a while to appreciate the full performance.
initial impression is the ride is quite a bit harder on the GT4 and the steering is much better, more pointy on turn in and more planted.
I need a bit more time to get to know the GT4 properly but from the comments on here it is clearly going to be a very good car.

Not taking anything away from the GTS which in the real world is about as good a sports car as you could want, I am sad to see it go.

GTS are great very usable everyday plenty fast enough for our roads all the congestion and speed laws you just can't use powerful cars any more on our roads.
Iam sure a GT4 s a perfect track weapon and an outstanding car.
But very expensive still GTS i have seen some low mid 50s which is more in my top price bracket if i was to consider a change of my 981.

i love the GTS... what a Spec, wow... what it a weekend toy your your commuter?

The Boxster was a weekend car, however it was driven, took it to Le Mans last year, Isle of Man on a PCGB weekend and several driving weekends.

How did you find the ride height on that car for real world use with sleeping policemen, drive entrances, etc?

Hi AW10

Do you mean the Boxster or the RS

The RS had axle lift so was fine

The Boxster was also fine but you needed to be careful over sleeping policemen with it having the lower suspension.
I was careful with it and I never caught anything in the 6000 miles I did in the car.
I expected so little from it and got so much and my wife wants me to buy it back for her, it really was probably all the sports car anyone could want.

Just have the GT bug, which I cannot justify.

It is a little difficult to answer as I am still running in the GT4 but my initial feelings are that the GT4 is more civilised, it seems to be a forgiving car and one that is quite easy to drive quickly. You still get involvement the gearbox is lovely and it makes a nice noise with the exhaust open, the steering is really good and pointy and turns in beautifully. I think it will be a very easy car to live with, my only real criticism is that it could do with a bit more go another 50 bhp would probably help. Hopefully when run in and I open it up properly it will give that little bit extra.
The RS is an event and I'm afraid the GT4 will struggle to get there, even driving slowly you have a smile on your face, the engine is awesome the gearbox has a weight to it and the handling is there to be exploited. The car has a rawness to it that in the GT4 is not there but it can still be used everyday, unfortunately with the values as they are these are not being used and having covered 13K in 2 years I cashed in something I deeply regret. I swopped for a 991 GT3 which in my mind did not compare it was far more civilised the cabin was a much nicer place to be, but you were going silly speeds on the road for the car to come alive. The RS was alive all the time. I sold the GT3 after 6 months and lost a chunk having paid overs. I had a BGTS as a stopgap which was a great car before the GT4 which I am hoping will bring back some involvement at sensible speeds and feel special. I fear I have been spoilt with the RS and that it is a one off not to be seen again as technology takes over. l hope the Gen 2 GT3 manual can bring back some of that special feel if I am lucky enough to be offered one in 2018, unlikely I think, so if I want to join the bandwagon it will mean paying overs again but we will see. Overall the RS is a very special car the sound, the performance, its delivery, the weight of the controls and the fact you have to get involved to get the best out of it, make it the best car I have owned and probably the best I will ever own as technology advances and takes away some of that raw involvement as we move towards electric power and driverless cars.
I'm not sure if we as drivers really want todays super capable, awesomely fast, fully tech'd Supercars that seem a little soulless, just my feelings as an oldie trying to find that smile again.

OP, did you buy you GTS from Porsche Silverstone about 2 years back? If so I drove it then and it drove beautifully. If it hadn't been for the buckets, which I really didn't want as mines a daily driver, I'd have bought it then. In the end that test drive cost me dear as I loved the way that car drove and added PCCB to my final spec to make sure mine drove the same way.

Yes it came from Silverstone it had done nothing and was about 9 months old the previous owner had got a Spyder.
It still does drive beautifully and the seats are really nice, in my opinion more comfortable than the 918 buckets in the GT4.
The brakes, handling, performance are all just right making it a great package.

The GT4 is about run in now I have got 1300 miles on the clock and booked my first 2 track days.
It drives like a GT car the steering is the biggest improvement over the GTS, It is also very noticeable the increase in noise in the GT4 over the GTS which must be down to insulation. I also prefer the folding buckets in the GTS.
They are different cars if anything the GTS is probably the better daily and the GT4 the better car for that committed early morning blast. Its response is a little more urgent and its steering and handling are that bit nearer perfection another 50bhp would also be good.

Thanks for the reply. It answers one of the questions I've had for a while. Accepting that memory plays tricks and there are so many variables, I'd always felt that your car had much more steering feel than the car I subsequently ordered. Mine has Pirelli tyres and, although I paid close attention to your car's technical specification, I couldn't remember what rubber it was running. One of the advertising pictures answered that question! Whatever tyres I get next, they won't be Pirelli.
