Evening everyone,

You have probably seen my name pop up a couple of times the last 2-3 months in regards to 997's. I have been looking non stop since around January time for the perfect car and week before last this one popped up.

Its a 54 reg 997.1 with 60k on the clock and 3 previous owners. The car has a load of paperwork and in between Porsche histor its only been to Portiacraft who actually know the car well having sold it twice in the past.

The last owner purchased it 18 months ago and after 9/10 months he noticed a couple of problems which turned out to be the dreaded bore scoring issue, luckily for me the engine was rebuilt under warranty from Portiacraft who actually told me they will have outsourced the work to Hartech when this was done. At the time the owner had an oil feed put it the IMS plus a few more jobs including new piston rings, timing chain, water pump plus brake & gear box oil change. After the work was complete he took the car to Porsche for a 111 point inspection who brought up a few minor problems which were all then rectified at Porsche this included air con condensers, coolant hoses and couple of small parts.

I picked the car up on Friday and drove 300 miles home in mixed traffic, having spent the weekend with the car its amazing.
Everything is bang on from the performance, handling to the sound of the car.. I can see why everyone on here was telling me to just get one and enjoy it.

This car comes with a range of extras from factory including chrono plus, upgraded alloys, hard back seats, bose, nav plus a few more bits.

So thanks everyone for the help and recommendations. I definitely chose the right car from the others I was considering smile

Good call. I've recently bought a red 997.1. Brilliant cars. I'm sure you'll love it.

Nice car, viewed that one myself, really clean condition, certainly the cleanest of the 3 I viewed last month and looks great in Guards red.

To be clear though it's not a Hartech rebuild - Hartech use Nikasil liners. Portiacraft rebuilt it themselves in house using Westwood liners on bank 2 and customer supplied LN IMS bearing. I spoke with Martin in the Portiacraft workshop to check what had/hadn't been done to sense check their invoice.

It was definitely the cleanest I had seen with the most comprehensive history, the engine work was just a huge bonus to me smile

I spoke with Portiacraft last week who said if it was done back end of last year they were still outsourcing work to Hartech, either way I am happy as they do have a good reputation regardless.

Luckily the seller was keen to move the car and I got it at a great price, a chunk below the asking price and a bargain in comparison to others I had seen.
