Dear All,

In general I'm enjoying my 36000 mile 2011 997GTS Cab, but I have to admit I do find it quite underwhelming and at times a bit unpleasant to drive.

The problem seems to stem from the stiffness of the chassis and the suspension. The whole car feels a bit loose, bumps in the road unsettle it so it doesn't feel composed, one bump after another keep it jostling down the road.

I have owned a 987.2 Cayman, 997.2 Targa and 991.1 Carrera S in the last years and they all seemed stiffer and more composed.

Is this a characteristic, or should I get the suspension checked out?

If anyone in North London would be able to show me theirs (car, that is) I would be really interested to compare.

Thanks
Jack

Can't help with a Cab but I have a GTS Coupe and live in South Bucks...used to live in North London. Should give you an idea how the car should ride. You're 45 mins to an hour away tops.

Haha, it's an OPC supplied car with a former owner from this forum...

Had 2 997 cabs (C4S and .1turbo) and I think unfortunately for you they are just a bit wobbly compared to a coupe. The GTS has firmer suspension than both the cabs I had above so suspect it might be even worse. Cabs are great, but that's the compromise you live with. I bought a wobbly e93 to satisfy my roof off antics and have a coupe GTS as a sports car.

Maybe get the geo checked - it should have been be on factory settings as part of the Porsche Approved pre-delivery stuff, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility it's not been set up correctly. Ditto getting the suspension once overed by a specialist. A cab is going to be less stiff than a Coupe, but in everyday driving I shouldn't think you'd notice unless you hit a particularly bad road. If anything I'd say a cab should be slightly more settled than a coupe if it's on softer springs.

If it is the GTS cab parked in spaces behind Highgate Studios then I have admired its rear on many occasions walking down Highgate road.
