718 C build date keeps getting put back. Anyone else experiencing this?
Becoming a little frustrating!

When did you order?

Have you been given a lock down date and a CP8 date by your dealer yet?

There were some delays earlier in the year but I was under the impression that these were starting to ease now...

Anyone else got frustrated with waiting and ordered something else? If so what?
Really interested to hear your experiences.

Hmmm... seems strange given how long you've been in lockdown.

My lockdown was earlier this month and dealer has showed me a screenshot of his system showing the cp8 (build completion) date as last week of May.

When has the build been pushed back to? Maybe ask to see what their system is showing for the CP8 which should hopefully give u some sense of when?

Have gone from March to April to mid May to end of May now. Where to now I have no idea.
This will be my 4th Porsche so not exactly impressed with the whole adventure.
Maybe Porsche see it as Brexit revenge!
Local OPC are great so no blame on them.
Maybe time to treat Porsche to the same loyalty they are showing me?

I guess the implication now if you get pushed back again beyond end of May is that your car will then become a MY18 build?

And you'll be incurring the price rise...

You've made me nervous now in case my build has been pushed back too!

I've had the same issue, ordered early October, now I understand I won't see my CS until June, confirmed by SE to be incurring price rise too. This is my first Porsche and my initial excitement is now starting to ebb away.

Similar story ... I ordered in mid-December, date moved a number of times. OPC informed me about month ago that I would have a July build with the price increase - got lock down confirmation earlier this week of mid-May. Whether this is to do with factory move, retooling or Porsche favouring other markets / countries who knows.

Ordered my 718 Cayman July 10th (ish) last year. Lockdown was mid-Feb. Couple of weeks after got a build completion date of April 28th. They beat that by 4 days, and the car is now at the port awaiting shipping to UK. Should be able to collect the car in about 2 weeks. Car is about 3 months later than the estimate made at order, but the dealer has not made any commitment to dates that they have not met, and informed me accurately of allocations. They warned me in November that the Feb - Mar estimate was not something that was going to happen.

Thanks Liam. You are close now then. Hopefully mine will be ready to ship by end of May.
It's the changing of dates which frustrate, but, then I guess it is not an exact science.

Anyway, enjoy yours once take delivery.

+1 it's all forgotten very quickly when you get your hands on it and 100% worth the somewhat unfortunate pain to get there

Thanks, I am sure I will.

I got pretty frustrated in early December when I found out the OPC I had ordered with had an allocation of zero Caymans for Jan and Feb, and the only car allocated for Feb was quite rightly going to the person in front of me in the queue. In the same week I also got some work commitments that meant I had to postpone my visit to the PEC that I had booked for January, and was hoping to use as a speccing exercise. I bet a lot of OPCs could have overcommitted themselves around that time, and I think the sales guys at mine were half expecting me to cancel my order. But on balance, still got my GT86, love driving it, could definitely survive a few more months.

Last week I had my postponed afternoon at the PEC, clearly not as a speccing exercise anymore, so I was able to spend the afternoon exploring the cars limits, and getting a feel for drifting the car on the low friction surface with a bit more elegance than I have managed before (even if I say so myself wink). Thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my mate that I had treated to an afternoon in a Cayman S. Better than that, it was my first experience of the standard Alcantara and leatherette seats that I'm getting, and I liked them better than any of the posher Porsche seats I have previously driven the cars in.

Short message, buying a new Porsche is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. The lows are really frustrating, but so far the highs more than compensate for it.

Ordered In October, originally expecting a pre tax rise delivery. Estimate for delivery is currently around mid May, just waiting for confirmation.

Well I ordrderd in January for October delivery, yet to have an email from Porsche this week to say the car will be here in July!!! Bit annoyed (mad as it sounds) when I'd agreed oct would be the earliest date because I need to clear the finance on my current car. Passed the problem onto them. But seems the demand isn't so great in Solihull!

CS manual, deposit mid Dec delivery expected sometime in June.
I was told I would have to wait longer for a base Cayman, 9 people in queue as opposed to one in front for a CS. I'm now next in line 😀

Quite agree with Liam, it's definitely a rollercoaster ride, but it is well worth the wait, incl. all the "Porsche" hassle !

What is the usual wait from lockdown to delivery? System currently shows 2 and a half months until build for mine after lockdown.
