Yep, sport styling came after the GTS was launched. I've not seen a non-GTS with it.
There is one just up the road from me. Same colour as my S, Agate with platinum wheels, but has the later rear diffuser and the Boxster style straight across DTRLs.

100% sure about GTS plastic. Was unique to the GTS when the GTS came out - later was option on Standard car. But probably academic since probably very rare.

Makes sense that it came afterwards. Interesting stuff!

I would also say the if the OP genuinely is choosing between a GTS and regular S with no regards to purchase price, I'd say you should go for the GTS for another reason - better residuals.

Anyone who tells you an S is as good as a GTS, probably owns an S. wink

Anyone who tells you a GTS is significantly better than an S owns a GTS and has a extra 10k (or more) burning a hole in their pocket.

I've not used the word 'significantly' that I recall. But I appreciate your acknowledgement that it is better.

You're very negative about the GTS aren't you? Fine that it's not for you, but you really are in the minority! beer

As I've made very clear that a suitably specified S meets my requirements better than a GTS can and so, for ME is a better choice. Others may have different priorities and a GTS may be a better choice.

When there are so many subjective factors in the choice to talk of "better" is nonsense.

People who own CGTS like them a lot - see the other thread involving getting shot of an F430 (manual) due to the abilities of a CGTS PDK.

There does seem to be an anti-GTS faction - some CS owners doubting the 'greater than the sum of its parts' view that owners put forward and some GT4 owners who don't seem to like the price differential closing.

All this manifests itself into talking the car down, which is irksome, but easily offset by the enjoyment offered by owning one.

I really don't think it's an actual GTS faction trying to "dis" the GTS, just some of us trying to counter the hyperbole it attracts.

There are definitely a couple of GT4 owners who have some sort of irrational agenda on the go - then again they're not people whose opinion I'd care about too much, if at all. (ETA - the couple of snipers, not all GT4 owners)

As you have noted, much of this is subjective, so I'm always happy for people who are pleased with their cars.

I had a GTS for just over 2years - would have been 3years in October 2017. I loved it.
X73, PDK + PTV. In fact the first x73 customer order at my dealership. It was my daily drive and an absolute weapon. Great car.

But an opportunity presented itself at the exact time that I was starting to look for something different so i made the jump to a GT4.

As a daily proposition the GTS is all you would ever need - the GT4 is more compromised to use daily.. so i drive it often but not daily and I'm getting a daily mobile to complement it.

The GTS across the Porsche range is greater than the sum of its parts. This was my second GTS having moved to the Cayman from a 997 Carrera GTS. The best options from the series car part bin - blended together is a relative value for money package. Detractors are just that. There is a difference between an cS and a cGTS. Of course, you could have specced them similarly - but you'd be then paying more in the S and still missing the sound symposer and the bit of extra hp right at the top end - imperceptible as they might have been - according to some.
