Interesting read, I guess it just takes some longer than others to catch up
You'll love the CR, it's a great car in my opinion. Interestingly though mine is now off to a new owners, but I agree with the sentiment that a better car Gen2 987 can be built and thats now my next project.
Watch this space...or probably a full build thread on CaymanOC.

Well, let's think about that one Rich. My guess is,you may have been rather busy with "other stuff"..... CarreraLightweightRacing said:
And to bring this thread back from behind the bike sheds
Harsh.... but oh so fair.

Great to read that H is actually taking on a project of this nature; it restores faith that there are people out there buying into this brand for the right reasons
Well let's not get too carried away, as before any of the dull, unimportant stuff I'm having passenger compartment storage nets retrofitted (with contrast stitching, obviously) Then I'm going to ensure I have full ipod connectivity before removing the Cayman badge off the engine compartment cover, deciding I actually quite liked it, and then having to work out the best way to refit it without a jig.

I'll support you all the way Henry
Is that technical/engineering support ? or support of a counselling nature ? (I'll need both in spades, just need to work out who's being tasked with what) CarreraLightweightRacing said:
And wish you all the best in achieving exactly what YOU want from this project.
As a fellow "sufferer", your input will be willingly received Rich. CarreraLightweightRacing said:
Defying convention and known norms doesn't always lead to disaster; sometimes, just sometimes, being brave and trying something different maketh the man car.
You've omitted the bit about it being an almost surefire route to financial ruin too Rich. CarreraLightweightRacing said:
I like your thinking and using such a great base car should yield a return to the sleepless nights you so desire
Insomnia rocks ! ! However old age doesn't I think I'd have to pack a duvet and Thermos of Cadbury's hot chocolate before doing an all-nighter these days Seriously though, although I've not got down and dirty with a Cayman before, this idea or one of the others you have mentioned to me, sounds like you have quite the refined taste and with all the right ingredients, a wonderful drivers car is in the making. Just need to pull you away from all this housing development boring stuff you keep filling your head with of late.

I've no first hand experience of their kits, but I did some Googling, there was some negative stuff about them. May be brilliant and sensibly priced. As ever, caveat emptor.Porsche911R said:
I see that they include HP2000 pads. I liked these on my 964 so tried them on the R. Not much meat left on the pads after only two trackdays and bite when cold was very poor. So have gone back to Pagid RS29s which last a lot longer and bite better in all circumstances. For road only use I would stick with Textar rather than the HP2000 because the latter do neither job very well IME.Porsche911R said:

There are a few direct from Taiwan manufactured kits if you do a search

I'm doubtful Charlie. Essex is a US company that make their own kits utilising AP calipers and discs/fasteners whilst manufacturing their own bells and caliper mounts. No UK agent that I'm aware of.https://www.essexparts.com/essex-designed-ap-racin...

Email headed your way Charlie
AP will sell kits if you order 10 sets.AP made a kit once for a chap from motorsport seats he ordered 10 kits so the parts have been designed.
Talk to "Pete Collen" at AP racing UK it's all very easy, just takes some one to sort.
the thing is all we need is this part the rest is off the shelf !
