Having tried a few phone holders now I thought I'd ask the PH community for recommendations on phone holders.

Recently I bought the following to stick to my air vent, which works very well.

Although every time I make a right hand turn/go round a bend the vent moves leftward, with the phone no longer facing in my direction. Annoying.
Suspect there may be other people on here with similar sized phones with tips on how to stop the vent doing that or perhaps, a better mount.

Quad lock is amazing

the case is strong so you can drop a phone no issue
the window mount stays stuck for ever
and it works for cycles which is why I have it, the car kit came 2nd, the bike kit is again amazing.
ALso as you can have the phone landscape great for harrys lap timer or other car related apps.

nothing really comes close imo

How does this connect to the console? The pictures show it being mounted to a wall smile

911R - thanks for your response too. Tried a suction holder already and the phone seems too large to fit between the windscreen & dashboard

See http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=634878&p...

Looks like it will cause a bit of interference with heater controls and intrude on passenger space a little. That said it was the best option I found when looking.

quad lock does all the above and is one of the smallest suckers I have seen, I have not had to move it in 12 months, it's never fell off.

I like my vents to vent air ;-) this is perfect in every way imo, no need to go hunting for a solution !

Theft (or attempt at) is a potential problem with any solution which leaves a bracket visible. Police warn that thieves may break in looking to see where the satnav is - even the telltale ringmark left by a sucker on the screen is a potential hazard. Since this happened to a friend it's not a theoretical problem. Even if there is nothing in the car a broken window of slashed hood is a major ballsache. Having had a slashed roof and radio stolen in the past myself I'd definitely prefer the most subtle solution possible.

The brodit solution also has the major advantage that there is a power point adjacent so there are no ugly dangling wires.

most people know a phone mount so most would expect you have taken your phone with you.

a ring left on the window is worse than empty phone mount imo as that stinks Sat nav in car !!

Apart from the charging wire concern, I agree with all of this. Let me know how you get on.
Regarding charging, I keep a portable battery charger in the console under where the heater controls are, the wire going up is not too messy. If you buy a black one off Amazon they are even less noticeable. And officially licensed cables. Also caching Google Maps to your phone saves the battery.

If it wasnt so expensive to get the Apple CarPlay, I'd go for that

I use Google Maps on my phone plus a Kenu Air Frame (similar to the OP's air vent mount), along with a Samsung 12v charger and high capacity USB lead to ensure I get fast charging. I use the 12v socket in the glove box, and once I've connected the cable to the phone I tuck all the spare cable back into the glove box and close the lid. The cable pokes out of the top right corner just under the cup holder cover.

As advised in the owners manual for maximum air con performance I never use the central vents, and once the phone/bracket are attached the vanes close slightly under the weight and the phone settles into a stable position. Tidy, minimal fuss, completely removed when not using Sat Nav and no ugly brackets/sucker marks left in the car afterwards.

EDIT: Just realised I have a 981 Cayman and the air vent vanes are horizontal, which I guess doesn't help the OP does it? Sorry!
