I have been told that GTS will launch in UK in October with either 375 or 385 BHP (slight difference of opinion of two sales people !).

Might both be right, if they retain different power outputs for the Boxster and Cayman?

I was told the same when I placed my deposit on Saturday !

We shall see at the Frankfurt Show in September .... just before launch in October .

Both models now share the same power output in base and S guise so would be surprising if they differentiate GTS I think.

Naughty taking deposits on a car that doesn't exist yet .

Appreciate this is a long way off, but does anyone know: is the 718 replacements due to hit UK roads in 2020? I was told last year that the 718 GTS would be available in mid/late 2018, and planned accordingly. Now that I see clearly wrong, but I'd be apprehensive paying all that money to pick up a 718 GTS in 18 months' time, only for it to be the 'old' model in the space of a year!

If the 718 GTS is announced in Frankfurt, will people in the U.K. be driving them by Christmas?

Looking at lead times currently I'd say gts will be April at the earliest before we actually see customers cars

Build is starting in October so I would say yes, customer cars will be dleiverd in December/January as delays due to move of Cayman to Onabruck are apparently now lessening and lead times on Boxster have always been shorter anyway

As the 981 arrived in 2012, and the 982 is just a facelift (or droop), I'd say the 983 will be here in 2020/21, yes.

Flat 3 cylinder hybrid?

So, contrasting opinions on when it'll hit the road. If I could get one in late 2018 then I wouldn't mind the new base and S versions coming out in 2021, it's if they're around at the end of 2019 / beginning of 2020 that I'd have a problem!

Since the new 911s are due to be out in 2019, I guess I'd have to see if I could stretch to one of those...

Hi all, new to the forum.. just thought I'd say that I also put my "unofficial deposit" down on a C GTS and was told October release, December/January I should have my car.. Which came as a shock due to the long waiting list for a normal Cayman.

So frustrating - the one time there's a short wait for a new Porsche model is the one time I'd rather it were longer!

Welcome!

I wonder if they are bumping the GTS up the production order so that they can get them out on the road ASAP in the hope that it encourages orders? Assuming all cars are built on the same line of course.

Are there really still significant lead times on 718 / 718 S models?

Given that the GTS will be effectively a trim package, I'd be surprised if they were on a different line, but they might have produced a few hundred in popular spec to be used as press cars / launch cars - and it might be those that are available in the first instance...

I am told that lead time on Boxster is now about 12 weeks with Cayman rapidly approaching that. I too have a deposit on a GTS (Boxster) and was told Dec/Jan delivery. I am sure you are right RMJ that some press/demo cars will be first down the line but doubt that they will amount a few hundred - not sure when they are being launched outside UK but launches in varying countries do seem to differ by a few months as production ramps up. Customer cars won't be far behind I suspect. I am in the factory on 21 September so will keep my eyes peeled !!

Looks like I'll just have to order in February (ish) for a July delivery, and take the risk that the next gen might come out 18 months later...

Thanks smile

I'm quite new to the way Porsche orders and builds work, back in May my original choice was a standard Cayman which specced up came in at 50k with a prospective delivery date of around May 18.
Having foolishly passed on the opportunity for an ex demo 981GTS a year prior i knew how well the GTS was optioned out so i enquired about the 718 GTS and decided to wait a few more months.. I was expecting the wait to be similar to the normal Cayman but I thought wrong as the factory relocation hasn't hindered production too much.. it's just the number of people waiting, which by what others are saying is decreasing rapidly..
Which could mean they're trying to get the GTS out as soon as possible to fill order books again.
I'm not bothered as long as I get my GTS smile
As for price of the GTS I've believe it'll be +5k over the S which will make it great value seeing as so much of what I wanted will be standard.

What about that engine though?

It sounds terrible compared to the flat six.

Fab car otherwise I'm sure!

GTS will be around £60k base and you'll probably want to add options such as the internal GTS pack, external paint, maybe bucket seats or 18-ways, wheels/paint, PCCBs if they're your thing, climate control, PDK etc. I can see an average spec car being around £70k. That's quite a jump from £50k.

£70k is a lot of money for a four banger.
