Still love mine 3k miles in.

Recently added a 996.2 to the fleet and it's really interesting how different they are.

Lovely combo but I bet the 996 feels very dated in comparison ?

Ta muchly. It's the car, nothing to do with the wholly behind the camera.

Perhaps, but in a good way. Much simpler and more analogue.

How can anyone get bored or not find the driving experience special when the cockpit is:

I've done around 1,500 miles and I live in London - it's perhaps one of the most practical cars I've ever owned in terms of ground clearance, power, size and maneuverability around a busy city.

We all know it excels on the back roads. Plus I am in love with Agate Grey and seems rare? All GT4's seem to be with white, yellow or red..

Lovely car and spec.

You're right about practicality, I did many trips in mine and got two cricket bags and bats stored easily in the two luggage compartments.

Torn as to weather the new version with PDK would be better still but as a car for keeps the current GT4 ticks the right boxes no question.

I never found the 'long gearing' an issue personally but appreciate others thoughts on the matter and some preferring a 3.4 to rev out.

The only issue is they made lots more of them than the OPC's let on so there are lots to chose from if you're buying/selling but what a car for sensible money.

Just been out in my Spyder and enjoying it but in an ideal world I'd have the Spyder AND a GT4.
Mr Demon has a nice trio of cars i gather which includes the CR although Spyder and GT4 is my ideal combo.

May have a rethink into next year.

I had a Cayman S before. Interior was as plain as a Milk Awowroot biscuit despite some costly options. It had 18 way seats and Burmester My GT 4 is chalk and cheese in comparison which makes it feel a whole lot more special.

I have always said the 987 spyder and the Gt4 are the pick of the Cayman/boxster range!
I would have/had for 4 years a 987spyder if I wanted drop top motoring and would have/have a Gt4 for a coupe! I would have kept the 987 spyder if I could have afforded to but alas finances dictate only one toy.
It's taken a long time for some to cotton on to the caymans charms but I have been in love with them since late 2005 and I am glad that Porsche finally gave it the engine it deserves although we all know they restricted it but as time goes by and warranties run out I can see a lot being tuned to release those extra horses which for about £1k takes it up to a 400hp screamer!

What does this £1k consist of?

Thanks buddy - eagerly awaiting news on the next Gen GT4 to make some decisions. If it comes manual and NA then I may need to move onto a Gen 1 GT3, otherwise the current GT4 is a sound investment I'll be keeping

I'm no expert but from all I've read/heard the next Gt4 will be n/a and I'd imagine you'd get the option of manual too .

Gen 1 991 GT3 lovely car but I question how you could realistically ever use that power on the road and a good early car is still what 125k?
That's what makes the GT4 a relative bargain if you bought new.

Had some great track days in my GT4, it suits all tracks .

Good luck

A cobb tune alone gets you above 400BHp circa 405BHp and it is a plug and play Cobb unit.

the IPD and larger TB helps the dips in the power curve and evens out the power and you get circa 415Bhp

the Manifolds added give you a >425BHp end result

there are a few stages to tune a GT4 or you just go and do it all in one go.

Thanks GT4P and 911R

Has anyone on here done this?

Interesting to hear a real world review on whether it's worth losing the warranty

Hope it's an inferior sounding car then!

Gen 1 GT3's are on the decline from what I can see - reckon next year £110k picks you up a nice one

I bought my GT4 for £86k so not an astronomical financial leap to a GT3. The engine worries me though. Gen 2 are out of reach for me, but the perfect car IMO especially with a manual!

I have not used my GT4 in 2+ weeks now, it's the last car I pick in my line up and the least interesting while maybe the fastest again the least interesting as one cannot hoon day to day at 120mph !

Took the Spyder to classics in the castle and that was a hoot, and ever since I have been using the Cayman R every day, done about 500 R miles this week.

The rain suits the feel in the R with PS4S tyres on and real steering feedback so you can really drive the R on the limit and have a hoot in the showers.

Cup's are st when cold and understeer like a dog, so if you are using a GT4 as a daily and NOT working the cup's it's a bit daft, as the car understeers any way, add in no heat and it's even worse. I am talking "driving" here not London driving the GT4 home ground it seems lol

Be interesting to fit PS4S to a GT4 and see what happens.

I do lol at comments like this mind you ;-)
"it's perhaps one of the most practical cars I've ever owned in terms of ground clearance" wtf !!!

I have to do trick angles to get it off my drive, cannot use multistorys and some car parks with ramps are a no go, also I have some tw4t under take me while I took a speed bump at some crazy angle he nipped by on the inside wtf !

anyway still a great car. crying out for a remap and of course a set up. I saw another GT4 yesterday, his tyres were bent backwards on the outer treads !
LOL how people drive oem is shocking ! just wreaking the poor car.

I call it my posing car as it's the car I take to open days and PH meets and super car driver events lol but I am honest about what it gets used for.
It's the best track car of course but I get the feeling not many see track.

Drivers car though the 987 Spyder in my spec makes my GT4 feel like a luxury daily.

If you are never going to see a track I would say swap the GT4 for a 981 Spyder ! As I have said many times people do seem in the wrong car for the use they give them, but then if it's a lifestyle choice car then no harm in it I guess.

good eurohooning car ;-)
