this was the 981 so no. it fits like a normal Boxster roof with 2 added tails. stupid design.

Seems a while away yet according to my OPC:

‘Nothing from Porsche that I have heard off as far as we know it will be some time in 2019 but they have just put the new 911 back and the factory is not making any of the line up until November onwards big delays across the board.’

Actually roof on the 981 Spyder was an absolute doddle to put down and up - literally took 10-15 secs each way, once you know what you’re doing. Also, I really like the manual interaction with it - always made me smile anyway smile
Good morning Richard..I also find the 981 Spyder's roof an absolute doddle to put up or down.Plus absolutely drum tight, quiet and 100% waterproof.
If i don't get a new Speedster allocation then will definitely get the new gen 718 Spyder..
BTW how are you finding your new 991 GTS...I rated mine highly and would buy another one however i still don't get the T..

Stopped me putting mine down so much, to a point I drove it roof up most of the time, but then mine was a daily for a bit so putting up and down 10 times a day was not an option.

If you're referring to the 987 Spyder, no it doesn't leak if left out in rain.

'Roof too difficult' is always hard to comprehend also. Less than 1 minute to get the roof either on or off, including putting it in the boot.

More faff than an electric hood, obviously, but not exactly difficult.

Does alter usage a bit. Short drive, shall I bother taking roof off, whereas with an electric one you probably would do the roof.

The james may review did it now favours. Anyone who finds it hard, it reflects more on the person than the design!

I think it's actually a really neat design and the work to design it into the boxster very clever. I love how neat the rear boot mounts are.

Hi there. Yep re the new Spyder, if as speculated, it should be a really interesting and fun car.

Re GTS : very begrudgingly enjoying it - it’s everything I hate in a 911: PDK and Turbo.

It’s very, very quick , no lag, very easy to drive, super efficient - It couldn’t be more different to the 991.2GT3 manual - but as a daily cruiser it’s absolutely perfect. It’s not mine, it’s my wife’s but I have to say ,I’ve used it far more than I thought I would and I actually really, really like it - must be getting old.

smile.

As the 981 Cayman was priced higher than the 981 Boxster the GT4 was more expensive than the Spyder. This was justified (slightly) by the 10bhp and suspension differences.

If the new Spyder and GT4 have the same engine, brakes and suspension then one would expect the Spyder to be more expensive. Would they price the new one £15k more than the last, in my opinion probably not. Which leads me to believe the GT4 could be even more of a relative bargain compared to the Spyder. My guess would be Spyder £70k and GT4 £68k.
I think you're about right. I can't see a 10k rise in price. The new GT3 was 10k more than the old model so £5 - 6k more for the GT4 is a good educated guess imo. If spyder is much more of a drop top GT4 this time then price will indeed be similar and not less plus boxer more expensive than Cayman now so you'd think the pricing would be along similar lines.

If we were to make the assumption that everything speculated were to be fulfilled about future GT4, Spyder - 4.0 na etc.... then this effectively is a baby GT3 product and will be priced accordingly!!

Given the lure of the success of the 981 generation version and the significant amount of anticipation that is building - the Porsche marketing beast is at the top of its game as usual. No doubt, with people queueing up to get their hands on the new variant, the marketing beast may play a blinder yet again @ £89995..... And build as many as it can get out the door of dealership.

Purely my own opinion having been part of a GT4/GT3 buying experience. Porsche are no fools.....

It would certainly cut down on the speculators if they did that as it would reduce potential profit and therefore demand would reduce a bit. Probably not enough to affect sales though, so I can see why it could be possible. Especially with a bespoke engine that needs the development paying for.

I cannot see it, the last one was £64k the GT3 went up 10k so even with a GT3 type rise that's £74k still under the £77 base 911.
I also don't see a £10k rise maybe 7 or 8 is my guess so £72k a neat £20k above a GTS.

And a long way above the £52k 718 GTS.

Demand has subsided for these cars already. 50 odd .2 GT3 available and i'd guess there are are a quite a few more to come on the market if more .2RS are to be built. I guess some might even trade their GT3 in, to get the GT4 as GT3's aren't even selling lol.

I'm sure they will sell a lot, but many of these will appear for resale pretty much straight away with OPC's and DP's trying to cash in. As for actual customers who want the car, whether to drive or as investments, well those people are disappearing from the market very quickly!

The only cars IMO which are going to get decent overs in the next 12 months are Speedster and GT4RS(fingers crossed they build it). I'd guess the GT4 will initially be pricided at around £15-20k over list but that we drop quite quickly once the crooked OPC's start flipping them wholesale!

2nd one of these to be flipped, that i've seen. Customers at this OPC must happy it went to somebody who want to use it lol.

Not been around for a while and haven't read all this thread but I'm assuming there is a long list at OPC's for the new 718 GT4?

The guy who owns this has had a lot of GT and special products apparently. He flips them all and drives them very little

I'm not saying Cardiff do but some OPC's definitely have deals with certain people who get all the nice stuff and flip them straight back.
I suppose if I was making tens of thousands doing it I wouldn't be complaining but there is a very bad smell surrounding it. I'm just amazed that some dealers haven't been picked up on it. There are the better dealers though, those that operate on a fairer playing field.

I know of a guy who's had at least 3 if not 4 of the recent money makers and they've all been flipped back within weeks if not days.

So sad real owners have to pay over the list price for the car they really want and want to drive and enjoy.

I am hoping we don't see any PDK option, so 2nd hand buyers have more choice later on.

PDK is the ruin of these cars.
