Whatever the title, if that’s a N/A car, it’s the weirdest sounding/ lowest revving one Porsche have made in recent years.... Not a patch on the equivalent Monza vids of the 981 GT4 back in 2015....The title of this vid states the engine is a NA F6 and we get to hear a bit more revving!!!

But if you could re-tune the 4.0........
Kinda depends on how Porsche “De-Tune” the motor.... On the 981 GT4, it was a simple case of restriction of airflow— both in and out— so an easy “fix”..... The 781 model may well be more difficult to de-restrict.... Would be really nice to see an engine that is free to do its thing straight “out of the box”..... Fingers crossed.....BE57JAM said:

That to me sounds somewhere in between NA and Turbo! The title of this vid states the engine is a NA F6 and we get to hear a bit more revving!!!

Either way been left feeling a bit empty after watching that

Haven't been on here for a long time guys so don't shoot me down in flames, but due to the noise and how much lower this is revving I would think this a turbo lump. I also think they will use the 718 GT4 as a Guinea Pig to see how it is received before going down this route in the 992 GT3.
My OPC is certain it will be NA, I just have my doubts and certainly can't see them de-tuning the 4.0 down to 420ish and lower the upper limit. I do hope it's a NA engine as they are a dying breed.

Not sure it adds anything new to the debate but from today https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/porsch...

Can't see why they would hide anything on the upcoming Clubsport car at a private test day. That's what it'll sound like IMHO.
I think it's a 4.0 naturally aspirated engine with a low redline and tuned for torque, kind of like a non-turbo'd turbo engine.
We have a winner.I think it's a 4.0 naturally aspirated engine with a low redline and tuned for torque, kind of like a non-turbo'd turbo engine.
No doubt it'll be fast, but probably rather dull too.

So essentially yet another unnecessarily restricted GT4....??Why not just stick the flipping X51Power-Kit on the original GT4 (Carrera S) lump....?? Free-revving, big-breathing N/A power at its best.... Now THAT would be the best outcome.... This “let’s make it 4L” is all marketing crap IMO: unless Porsche actually put the unrestricted GT3.2 motor into it, which will NEVER, EVER, NEVER happen....!!

Hi gents, I am a GT4 owner here so go easy on me as am biased. When I was spec'ing my car, I was feeling uneasy with the fact that the same engine in a 911 made 400hp not 385hp as it would in mine: it was something to do with the air intake not to engine internals. At the end of the day I was getting an out of the box track-ready Cayman with a 911 Carrera engine, finally! So I'm happy with what I ended up getting, it's a cracker...Would I go for the 4.0 version of the MA1 just for the sake of a 0.2 increase and to jump into the 4.0 GT3 engine-like club, with a huge downgrade in power vs the original GT3 lump? 100% not.
This engine -it seems- doesn't sound as good as the current gen, and this alleged increase in capacity wont do wonders to the fuel consumption. GT4s are know for hanging out in the thirsty side...
At the end of the day Porsche will sell as many of them as they want; whether they will be turbo or N/A, 3.0, 3.8 or 4.0. I just hope that they keep the ethos of the GT4 alive and really improve the car with this iteration. Only time will tell, I just find difficult to understand the logic from Porsche this time around.

I wish it were track ready. but to track a GT4 to a nice level, you will have to fit after market parts and void any warranty renewal :-(yes it's cheap to do and yes it's transforms the car imo, but stock you have fixed rear sus lol !! Why Porsche fixed the rear of the GT4 was very odd !
because if the rears fixed the fully adjustable front GT3 sus layout is pointless !!!
great little car if you are prepared to change out some parts, I would say 95% are oem though.
