Shouldn’t be. Will be breaking their own rules to announce 992 before the gt4.
.
I think the Porsche rule book is in tatters after what we've seen this year....GT3 RS orders confirmed and cars having to be specced before the car is launched etc etc .
Correct, I was told they will push the button on the new 992 first as this will bring a bigger audience, which = more money.
I guess we will all just have to sit tight and wait and see. The new car is coming with the new emissions filter and they are apparently getting better results with the new turbo charged engine going in the new 992. The 4.0 is apparently not producing as good emission results due to being N/A, I think we can safely say it’s going to be N/A. What was pointed out to me is they will have better emissions with the pdk box, so they may offer this to help with emission targets as every car counts.
Car should apparently be on the roads by the 2nd quarter next year.
Has anyone heard anything about the revised suspension?

The wing is an interesting design - will make it through to production?
I wonder if there is something different happening aerodynamically at the rear of the car to say a GT3 for the end plates are to be dropped to such a degree (it almost looks like a 997 GT2 wing) and they look quite large (RS esque and NO, I'm not saying this is an RS........................)

That new rear wing is definitely more GT2 RS - quite frankly makes the 981 GT4 wing look feeble by comparison - or maybe delicate is a better word - .
Said it before - but actually the whole aero package on this car seems to be inspired by the GT2 RS. and is much more significant at least visually - whilst maybe ruining some of the nice lines of the 981.
The front bumper and splitter arrangement... splitter is much bigger and has GT4 stamped on it.. currently covered up with tape.
Behind the mesh you can just see the wires - similar to the support wires on the GT2 RS that are required to allow the extra downforce to act on the car.
Just ahead of the front wheels - you have the air curtain ahead of the front wheels to clean air flow around the front wheels and down the side of the car - streamlining flow into the intake vents, and then on the rear - we finally see the GT4 gurney flap instead the partially extended 718 wing, and the new huge rear diffuser which looks like it does extend underneath the car.. you also can make out the additional vanes as per 991.2 GT3 and 911R.

I continue to remain amazed at just how effectively the manufacturers seem to have convinced large swathes of people that 'aero' is now such a must have on a road car and constantly keep trumpeting about how much downforce they have and how much it has increased over the old model. The effect of downforce is a ratio to car weight and at almost any cornering speed one might find on track, the cornering speed increase is going to be noticeable with a stopwatch but almost certainly not lifechanging to the driver as it is sometimes made out to be.anonymous said:

I think the engines a bit more than on paper 500hp vs 500hp quotes and the olds one 4 years old not 1 :-p and In the RS had to have a reduced red line, a backward step from the non RS !!!I think people do underestimate the engine from the cup racer, a £350k race cars engine is now just about in a £100k road going car and makes more torque any where in the rev range over the old one, heats up twice as fast from cold which is handy for road use and has the 9k rev limit again with a lot of tech from the LMP 1 car for oil feeds etc !
991.1 Engine was never proven and just had major faults in 2 or 3 area's, it was never good enough for a race car.
So the new base car now has a better engine than the old RS and R ! let alone the old GT3. it is what it is, better every where and race proven, in GT terms that counts for a lot come sale time.
So one might say the new engine is "far superior " ie. One that surpasses another in quality :-)
I am still amazed at it as is every one who's been in my car is.
