That sounds more like my wide’s 718 Boxster than my 991.2 GT3.

I think this thread has run out of steam.

Until there is some new info most of us are bored with the endless 3.8 or 4.0, turbo or NA, manual or PDK debates.

Most likely GPF certification is the delay on a car that by now must be production ready pending only testing, sitting behind 992 and other more volume models. GT dept must be almost as ticked off as forum habitués however they do get to play with next generation GT3.

If they want to race it at the ROAR in January, as is currently planned, it'll need to be released before Christmas. It doesn't need to be a show, a press release will do.

This thread is becoming the Steven Bradbury of Porsche GT4 threads and should be locked.

Apparently it’s gone quite as they are just assembling the last of the 600 gt3 4.0 engines to put into them.

Interesting, are they only supplying the next GT4 to the U.K. market? Alternatively 600 worldwide would create the mother of all bunfights to get one and the horrible overs market would go into hyperdrive.

On the other hand - you could just be talking bollix. wobble

Porsche love the UK market... they know most will try and jump in the gravy train.

All paint sample as well smile

Porsche made a 4.14bn Euro profit last year...

Whatever decision they're making, you can bet its the right one wink

Contrary to what I think will happen, I've just been told by my OPC that it's going to be late 2019 until we see the GT4 and Spyder. That could tie in with a Geneva release like the last one.

However, it doesn't allow the Clubsport to race in the 2019 season unless homologation has already happened and the road car release will be after the race car. Not sure if that's possible or not.

The new Ford GT road car was available approx a year or 2 (complete guess) after the race car competed.

Dunc.

Cheers Dunc, but had the GT40 been released and was available to order before it raced? I know there was a long lead time for the road cars to be delivered but I'm guessing that the road car had been officially announced before it raced...

I don't know the full history, I just know it had competed in a couple of Le mans before any reviews/road test etc came out smile

Ford GT was/is in GTE category of FIA WEC which includes the prototype mid-engine 911 RSR. Different rules on homologation
