I think noise regs mean you can't make the car louder any more - one setting only?
That isn't correct..The new 992 has an optional switchable Sports exhaust which i've specced on both my 992S Coupe and Cabrio..I think what the EU lawmakers have said that its no longer legal to fit an aftermarket exhaust which makes it louder than the factory spec car.New new particulate filter really muted the 992, it's not Porsche's fault and there's little they can do to fix it. Buyers who care about the sound of their new car will have to remove the filter to make them sound as they did before. No doubt there's already companies working on filter-delete products much like we have for cat's.

Also thinking that due to the interesting news about a Cayman 6, doesn’t this all but confirm to us that the engine is simply just not going to be a powered down GT3 unit but a 4litre version of the old Carrera S. They wouldn’t be putting a GT engine of any sort on a non GT car.
Can anyone help me find anymore info about the Cayman 6 - sounds like something that would interest me! TiaTwinfan said:

All new cars have to be quiet, no valve button, however my understanding is they are allowed to open above 4500 rpm (ish) to relive back pressure. Therefore they should still be noisy at the mid to top end. As most of these systems work of a vacuum hose it should be possible to cut it and bung it so its open all the time. This is what all new Lotus owners are doing....Taffy66 said:

You're buying a coupe and a cabrio?!I was told it'd work much like out Spyders / GT4's do now without the exhaust button pressed. So at 3500 rpm, the vales open.
That's in quiet mode which is basically still very loud mode

Lol still remember that video, together with the one from Henry Catchpole sold me the 981 GTS.
And basically you just reminded me that 718 GT4 could be a big disappointment coming from the brilliant 981GTS, definitely in terms of sound.
If confirmed only choice left then is finding a low mileage GT3 or jump to a 570S.
Biggest disappointment with most Mclarens is the lack of proper sound. And basically you just reminded me that 718 GT4 could be a big disappointment coming from the brilliant 981GTS, definitely in terms of sound.

570S no exception.
Even the 718GT4 although dumbed and quietened downcompared to the 981 will probably sound better.

Many of us did it on the 991.1 GT3 although it was slightly droning at certain speeds.av185 said:

Yes still remain a turbo, but 718 GT4 stock with no warranty friendly loud exhaust option can be worse and a failure vs 570S
