Late Sapphire and particularly Agate GT4s/Spyders could well firm up a touch price wise bearing in mind unavailable on the 718.

I doubt colour alone is going to make them worth substantially more than any other 981 GT4 when compared to a 718 GT4.

Yes I know the spec will have to be right as well as we all know too well..... biggrin:

I'd also add that Gentian Blue on the configurator doesn't do the colour any justice, it's lovely in the flesh!

I purchased a Cayman GTS 3 years ago from the dealer that I hope to get a 718 GT4 or Spyder from.

I am 31 now and have had all my cars serviced there, lent the dealer a car for a launch turned up to photoshoots when asked.

Yes I put a LOI in for the new car when I bought the GTS but thats all. Upon the new car being released I followed this up and have been told I have a fairly good chance depending on total allocation.

I have been told this is through:
- Proper use of cars and they seem to value this
- Age, they're looking to attract a younger customer
-Brand loyalty, I may have only bought one car through them but for the past 5 years all I have had is Porsches from a 986 Boxster to 996 GT3 and had them serviced at said dealer.
-Low likelihood to flip due to not having a 'collection' of cars

To answer the snobbery of the dealers comment earlier I have never experienced this, my OPC even when I had my 986 at 25 treated me like I was having a GT3 serviced. Then when I bought my Cayman GTS I was treated really well and not looked down on at all.

This is through Tonbridge who have always been brilliant.

Joe Magness in the service department has dug me out of many a hole.
I wonder if this is OPC dependant ?

Or maybe I am too old smile

10-12k above average???

My goodness!
Many owners prefer not to drive their cars.

If mine lands my plan is for it to be a daily driver and I will do around 9k a year in it with a big fat smile on my face.

I can remember the days when you would see unusual Porsche’s being driven about daily, the only Porsches you see on the road today are macans or a cayennes. Please bring back the days when you would see a mk1 gt3 cs, 996 gt2 cs being driven daily.... I’ve only ever seen a 991.2 gt3 or a 991 gt2 rs in showroom 🤣

These cars need to be driven just to put smiles on little kids faces just like I used to have when I saw one, otherwise kids will have zero interest latter on.

Ha we've covered this before. Most have access to other cars as you know.

I do in excess of 9k miles per year btw.

You mention the 991.2 GT3s. Easy to be stereotypical about mileage and GT3s but most 'halo' cars Porsche Ferrari Lambo Mcl etc etc or otherwise are no different. GT4s included. And JZM have several halo 997s with100 or so miles. Does that mean they are ALL hardly driven? Clearly not.

I use my GT3 daily as do many others.

Yeah, using mine a lot too. Enjoying the lovely summer sunshine. Lots of grip from the Cup 2's smile. Really nice to see some of the kids faces light up too

Just occurred to me, for 20% more you can buy a used 991 GT3.

No hassle, no waiting lists, better engine, no GPF, true motorsport lump, proper suspension front and rear, proper sound.

I'm struggling to warm to the 718 GT4, think I'd even prefer a used 981 GT4 over the new one let alone a used GT3.

Awesome cars for sure.

Good point but I am not convinced the 4 to 5 year old used 991.1 GT3 would be on the radar of those wanting to spend similar money on a lightly used flipped 718 GT4 not least because the obvious gearbox differences.

Agree a used GT4 at sensible money would be a better comparable.

My GT4 spec is 90k ish plus OTR plus, if we exit without a deal 10k in import changes?
100k for the GT4 is too steep imo.

Better of with a 991.2 GT3 for another 35k. Makes the 981 seem an utter bargain considering there is hardly any more performance on tap from the new car.

Just doesn't feel right to me?

I totally agree Fokker. My choice of spec matches the price of yours, and I also think it's too expensive. For me it would be my CGTS at a trade value of approximately £45k, plus £47k (including first year road tax) and potentially another £9k Brexit Tax. Too rich for my blood for minimal gains yet several losses (looks, sound, rarity, under-the-radar-ness etc).

I'm keeping my 981 CGTS for the foreseeable future and I'm clearing off my mortgage shortly instead. A much better use of my cash!

It's a lot of money.
As an existing owner and driver - for me, at that point it makes more sense to just level up to a 991.2 GT3 or 991.1 RS

As 'moose say - Porsche basically have this segment to themselves at the moment - so they can charge what they want.
People will buy them all.

Used, history needs researching, warranty even from an OPC not quite the same, PDK ONLY!, engine has a big black cloud over it and a good chance its been replaced at least once (Porsche having to support them with 10 years warranty is already looking short term as they are 5 years old already) Values definitely falling now.
Not the car to hold up as a beacon of GT car desirability.

Better engine in the old 991 gt3! Have you been sleeping under a rock?

And it’s only available in automatic....

Don’t rule the new gt4 4.0 out into you have actually driven it would be my advice.

Porsche always improves when it releases a new car and have done this time around.

I agree plenty of 991.1 GT3 at 100K now, circa 10K miles, and near enough 9K rev limit.

Depends on what gearbox you want but my money would be heading toward the GT3.

Did you not get the reference - this is the GT3 that had their engines replaced , sometimes more than once because of design faults. That carry additional 10 year warranties on the engines because of that. ???

9000rpm maybe but it was telling that the subsequent RS had that reduced to 8500rpm
