As cars seem just about impossible to get now, how are you going to secure one ?

By having a good relationship with my opc. I guess the three big questions are, when willl it turn up, what engine will we be in it, will they upgrade the suspension.
From my understanding the opc centres know the same info as us.

If it’s an F6T or an F6 I’ll be asking my OPC if they’ll take the 981BGTS against a 718Spyder.
If it’s an F4 - then I’ll be seeing what body parts they may want from me for the second round of 3RS. ??
I would be very shocked if it’s a 4, looking at the exhaust locations they seem very similar to my 991.2 4s. If it turns out to be a 6 turbo it will be one hell of a car. If it’s an F4 - then I’ll be seeing what body parts they may want from me for the second round of 3RS. ??

What cmoose says— but apparently falls on deaf ears!!— clearly makes the most sense here..... The honchos at Porsche have effectively ruled out the F4T, leaving only 4 realistic options: First— The seemingly “obvious” current Carrera S F6T engine. Would seem the most logical choice considering where the last GT4 engine came from.... BUT.... And it’s a BIG BUT..... The F6T engine simply does not fit in the Cayman chassis.... I’m sure it could be made to— at uncertain cost— but this alone makes it a less “obvious “ choice.
Second— And most likely imo: bore out the current GT4 MA1 3.8 engine to a 4L, and bingo...!! It easily fits the 718 chassis, it’s bigger (so that MUST make it “better”), and the media will love it, despite it still being a “non-GT engine”....
Third— I'd REALLY LOVE this one: stick the 991.1 GTS Power Kit on the MA1 3.8.....!! Higher revving, deristricted, more torque, more hp....... What’s not to like...?!?
Fourth— Stick the new 4L GT3 lump in the middle....!! Thus producing a true fully GT Division car— with an appropriately inflated price tag to match— that would go like a rocket..... So much so that—unless it was seriously restricted— would whoop the ass of the GT3 it’s very self..... Hmmmm.....
Final option— It’s a hybrid (just taking the piss..!!)
Anything I’ve missed folks....???

so do the other 55 people at your OPC and that's todays issues every one is playing the game and you are not the best client other wise we would see your GT2 RS on here ;-)with say 10 cars per OPC can you say you are their top 10 client.

What does everyone think will happen to the prices of the old GT4, time to sell before they go back to list when the new one is announced?
Not much...the new car will be more expensive that the 981 was at launch.... and the 981 GTS is underneath the 981GT4 and used prices for those remain strong, as a result of the 718 4-pot engines perception.Look at the GT3 - the 991.1 GT3 - prices are still strong even though there is a 991.2 car out. 997 GT3 offer differences to the 991 generation and so they all play to one another.
Don't worry about prices or values....
Get out and drive the damn thing. Take a few road trips and track days - then sympathetically mod it to release the last few ponies, if you like.. Enjoy it for a while.
If you're looking to buy - then yes it might be worth while waiting... but rather - shop and buy smart and get a car now. What if the new one is a Flat-6 Turbo... 981 GT4 will be the only NA GT Cayman, the oh-so-important market will go nuts and you'll have missed the boat!

If it's NA I think it will be much more expensive than the old car and which will make the current car look cheap. If it's a forced induction engine it'll make the old car highly desirable and thus probably go up in price!

Indulge me - What are the chances of getting a GT4 with no previous buying history from an OPC?
Is sales buying history the only thing that matters? As in dealings with the service department are irrelevant?
I have friends that had no buying history with their OPC but still got one. They were both surprised and pleased about this. Personally I didn't try for one but that was mostly because I had just bought my Cayman R. I suspect it might be different for the next GT4 though owing to the fever that is now surrounding any GT Porsche. Is sales buying history the only thing that matters? As in dealings with the service department are irrelevant?
