It will have a 2.5 flat-4 turbo engine 20bhp up on the GTS.
It was reported on Rennlist that at a large US gathering last year a senior Porsche official answered a direct question about the next Spyder and stated it would be NASP.

There have never been any rumours quoting anyone at Porsche saying that the Spyder or GT4 will be anything other than a 4.0 naturally aspirated flat six. All these other guesses are just that - uninformed guesses. They have no substance whatsoever.

Or by just taking a punt based on your gut 'read' and understanding of the market (or lack of!)

Porsche clearly run a tight ship, but some people must be in the know.. I'll keep searching on Rennlist for leaks !

I didn't say there won't be a new GT4, just suggesting they could do a Spyder and R earlier.

But I have made that up based on no information whatsoever. Was bored and thought I'd throw something out there to be controversial. Sorry for wasting people's time.

Seeing as this topic was started back in November I think that only thing we can safely say is that the GT4 is not arriving sooner than we think!

I think I'll take other people's advice and start looking for an old one...not that they would allow me to buy a new one anyway! biggrin

Good plan. Think this thread should be renamed "The 718 GT4 might NOT be arriving sooner than we think" biglaugh

Ok so why is it no one else anywhere in the world (germany/US especially which are 2 larger markets for PAG than the UK) seems to have heard of this shutdown or have deliveries cancelled?
We're a right hand drive market, the others are all left. Easier to keep production to one format and those that are larger I would guess.

Yes but people are talking about a factory shutdown. That I assume means nothing is being produced not just a rhd line shutdown?

As i said earlier in this thread, it is not a complete shutdown, just zero production of cars for UK/Europe

I agree with a previous posting on PCGB forum, if the GT4/Spyder are not F4T, why call it a 718, which historically has been a 4
Perhaps if it did have a 4.0 NASP the Spyder will become more of a standalone model

Although based on the 718 mid-engined platform, IMHO they will just be called "Porsche Spyder" and "Porsche GT4" and they will be their own model mini-range (mid-engined with naturally aspirated engines).

Audi 5 cylinder turbo engine, low ratio manual gear box where each gear is limited to 20mph increments (so youll be scrabbling to change gears every few seconds down a twisty country lane) on 17's

If I remember correctly Walliser said it wouldn't be 4 cylinder. That leaves a big gap to drive a 6 cylinder turbo through from the 991.2 Carrera or Carrera S...
This would give more scope for tuning in the GT4 racing class against more powerful and turbocharged rivals. Just imho of course.

This thread is hilarious. Its a 4 litre N/A motor. Thats it, there is no argument as my masseuse has seen it, touched it, fondled it and all but dribbled juices all over it...

Do people not believe me or something?! smile

Twin fan is also right in my opinion. Its not going to be called the 718, it'll just be GT4 and Spyder.

You seem to know someone with good contacts at Porsche headquarters, but until we have a concrete statement from someone official and/or video evidence of a NASP car, it's still debatable to some people.

A video of the the car going round the Nurburgring would answer the question once and for all I think.

+1
I want to believe it I really do. Think I've said before my wifey is a masseuse - she knows censoredall about the GT4 but does give an exceptionally good massage laugh
