Conclusion. 911R has never tracked his GT3, his GTS or his previously owned GT4. His lack of response (it’s not the first time I’ve asked him directly) confirms this. I therefore hold no respect for his opinions on any of these cars in terms of their credentials or his ‘experience’ of them on track. He says he only does two track days a year, which ones have you done or are you doing in 2019 Mr D?

Back on topic, does anybody know what engine is in the GT4...?
I know a few people who have met David in person and at trackdays, I've spoken to him on the phone and emailed him and as I understand it he is a decent guy and a good driver.

He has strong opinions but I don't think I've seen him resort to personal insults on here.

Maybe some people should just fk off and leave him alone.

Instead of everyone being the school bully.
I don’t doubt anything you are saying about Mr D, I’m sure there is a perfectly chap behind his keyboard persona. I’m just asking him a simply question which, not for the first time, he refuses to answer. And I therefore conclude that his opinions on various GT cars track abilities are purely based on either what he has read, or what he thinks to be the case rather than first hand experience.

I have not made any personal insults and I am not a bully of any kind, so please reframe from telling me to F off. Thank you.
And if you look at some of the posts Mr D has made in the past - accusing people who he disagreed with of being alcoholics - he has traded insults way beyond anything on this thread.

As jcosh says there is no need to tell people to fxxk off and leave him alone I’d let him try and defend himself personally.

The track days I instigated were for the reason of taking the tension out of the forum. The guys that attended had a great time, David has ample opportunity to attend one of them and learn to get on with like minded folk but chooses not to.

It’s a real shame but such is life.
Please guys give it a rest rantingsmile

You know what, I really have no idea. And I was all set for NA or I'm not interested, but actually if it is the turbo form the 911S with it's full power then would give a decent dollop of performance. We'll see - all in good time of course.

I can guarantee it'll be a 4L/3.8L F6 with 420PS..The 3L Turbo from the 992 will be deemed too heavy and besides that won't fit in the Cayman platform..

There are plenty of keyboard warriors on here. The bottom line is not willy waving, it's whether or not we enjoy what we do with our cars. The pack instinct on this post is a real turn-off.

David is most welcome at any stage in the passenger seat of my car, and I will be very interested in what he tells me.

Whether I am fast or slow, why would I need to challenge him if we are all having fun ?

I thought we had moved on from this Chris and were trying to get this thread back on topic, no?

‘Willy waving’? That only appears to be coming from person....

‘Pack instinct’? I’m not sure about that chap.

Now then, what engine are we going to get in the 718 GT4 again?

Will the uptake of PCCB's be greater this time around? From what i seen, a high percentage of 981 have steel?

The new and shiny has grown on me… very aggressive looking even if it is more than a little ostentatious vs the sleeker, ‘purer’ look of the 981.

Ceramics unecessary on the GT4 and Spyder imo.

Expensive at c£6500 relative to otr cost and same price as GT3 brakes.

That is why the market values a ceramic braked 981 same as steels.

May be possible to get slight uplift on the residual value over the costed option for the first flipped 718 cars but after that price parity is likely once more.

I has the full fat 410mm/390mm F/R on my GT4 and they cost me a bargain £4970 not the £6.5K as on the GT3.On my Spyder i have the steels which are the upgraded 991 Carrera big reds and are plenty for the car..The PCCBs on the Spyder were not the full fat GT3 ones.
Neither car needs the PCCBs however they were awesome on the GT4..Will i spec them on the 718 GT4/Spyder depends on the price basically as they're not a 'must have' but a 'nice to have'.

When I’m looking for any used used Porsche of the recent models I’m only really interested in cars with PCCB’s as they are awesome and were a relative bargain on the GT4, although I wish they were a fraction smaller.

Due to the replacement cost I would avoid PCCBs like the plague on a Cayster, in fact I'd avoid them on any Porsche. To me they're a "must not have".

We're all different!
