Have just ditched the P-Zero N1s for Goodyear F1s and I must say IMO they are a big improvement. Unless conditions are perfect I found the P-Zeros truly awful, a feather touch of acceleration would have the traction control light flashing like crazy and the back would slide far too easily. Goodyears also seem to be much quieter and the ride quality is much smoother on terrible UK roads. Don't get me wrong, I would have much preferred Michelins but could only see the n-rated being available on 20"s.
Are you really say Pzero N1s as opposed to N0s? I find your comments surprizing if as writ?

Just ordered the MP4Ss through Camskills. A lot cheaper than the other usual websites.

The Kwik Fit meat my work in Harpenden have done all my tyre swaps for the last few years. Never had a problem with them.

They charge about £15 a corner.

I've been running Michelin's Pilot Sport 4S tyres on a 997.1 C4S (so wrong sub-forum, apologies) since last July, and figured others might find my experience useful. Prior to fitting MPS4S I ran Bridgestone Potenza RE050A for three years, and then had six months on a part-worn set of Pirelli P-Zero Rosso Corsa.

Even part worn (and eight years old!) the P-Zero Rosso Corsa had excellent dry weather grip, way better than the Potenza, but unsurprisingly was terrible in the wet - aged and hardened rubber not helping what is pretty much a dry weather tyre in the first place. I went for MPS4S once I'd finished off the Pirellis because I wanted something quieter than the Potenza and didn't want to sacrifice wet weather grip.

Initially I was underwhelmed with the Sport 4S, not because of the dry grip (because it is immense, and better than the Rosso Corsa), but because the tyres seemed to take a moment to settle into a corner. The initial response to steering input was vague, although once the car had settled into a bend they gripped beautifully. It felt like sidewall flexing, so I tried increasing to maximum pressure (also with half an eye on a summer trip featuring the Autobahn and extended time dong three figure speeds through Germany) and it did improve this transient feeling, while I initially remained unconvinced.

Now, after six months and three thousand miles, I'm less convinced that the vague feeling was to do with the construction of the tyre sidewall but was more to do with the rubber compound bedding-in. Alternatively, I've simply subconsciously adapted my driving style to suit. Either way the MPS4S seems even better with some miles under the belt.

A final word on wet grip - I think the MPS4S is probably the best wet weather tyre I've ever driven on. It genuinely feels like you're driving in the dry, even in torrential conditions. For anyone who can overlook the whole "N" rated discussion I'd recommend Pilot Sport 4S in a heartbeat.

I'm hoping it's dry this coming Sunday for Silverstone where I'd like to trash the P Zeros..
CASH not trash!

Sam Taylor at Pirelli GB
Email: samantha.taylor@pirelli.com
Tel: 03459 616263

She handled my cracks perfectly. 100% customer service.

I phoned; sent photos as requested. She arranged an engineer visit at my home to see displaced PZeros (2 x rears). Engineer said defective, half worn, but would replace FOC. I said I'd already bought Goodyears. He asked for their invoice. Pirelli sent a cheque for the full cost (not fitting).

Good luck.

Spoken to Sam and a Pirelli Technician is coming to view the tyres at home.

Having looked more closely the cracking is bad - not just on the outer tread blocks, but also in the tyre carcass in between the tread - in the grooves if that makes sense..

I think that is what we are all finding.

Does anyone have any experience with the ps4s vs the cup sport 2's. Are they even comparable?

My initial thought was to go with Cup Sport 2’s but sadly not available in the 235/35 20 I need for my GTS that I could see.

Yep. I couldn’t find them either.

PS4S fitted last week. Although not had a chance to try them out yet.

Interested to hear your thoughts after a few miles.

I’ve got the Pirelli tech coming next week so will see what comes of the cracked P Zeros before I buy the Michelins.

Mine were cracked when they removed them but had no way to get them home so left it.

Will certainly feedback once I get out for a drive.

So the end result is a resounding thumbs up for Pirelli customer service.

I was visited by a Pirelli Tech' and he pretty much condemned the fronts even with 6mm of tread remaining and the rears although a little cracked with 5mm ish of tread left were in his opinion still OK.

So I will get a new full set of the P Zero N1's & as per the ad in the Porsche UK magazine and take advantage of the £50 off fuel vouched from Pirelli. Take into account too the gesture from the supplying dealer the full set of new tyres will set me back c.£200 so all in all I'd say that's a result.

I could have changed to the Michelin PS4S, but quite honestly if Pirelli were good enough to react like they did and the N1 is supposed to be an improvement over the N0 then the least I can do is try them - especially at this price.

Tyres are at the depot (Bush Tyres - super helpful and well priced) next week so I'll crack on - excuse the pun!!

Sounds like a good result.

I have just come back from a run out on the MPS4s. Felt dreadful to start with. Car felt up in its toes. Checked the tyre pressures and they had been set at 39psi. Doh! Took them back to 32psi and the car felt much more planted.

Get the description of being a little understeery on initial turn in but for me that is just the walking of the tyre blocks given that I have just come from 2mm and now on 8mm (or whatever they start at when new).

Too cold and damp to really feel the grip levels. But they seem ok so far. Not hard to be better than the P Zeros. The rubber felt the same consistency as charcoal when I took them off.

Roll on the warmer dryer weather.

I would try them a little softer still, they have stiffer side walls.

Amazing wet tyre, they feel like you are in the dry, they don’t under steer though and they do go up in psi even in this cold weather, I run 27 psi cold in the R.

I like the mpss more (dry) as they has softer side walls, but the PS4s in the cold and wet is amazing.

Also they seem to take ages to bed in, over 500 miles, not sure if that the release agent or what but def don’t judge them until you have a load of miles and a few heat cycles on them.

Done 6k miles in the Golf CS and they are amazing, done about 3k on the R and as I said had to take a bit more psi out on that car than I would have liked, but they are wearing even at that low psi so no issues.
