my current 2 seater convertible is a 2009 SLK 350. I haven’t driven many cars and don’t really push it on the roads so given the Boxster’s great reputation, what will be the most noticeable difference when driving this compared to the SLK.
The big difference will IMO be the way it turns in response to steering inputs. There's nothing quite like the feel of a proper mid-engined chassis. It's this factor above any other which makes these cars one of the great sports car bargains of all time.

Many mid-engine cars are severely compromised in the cockpit space and luggage departments. 981 is simply brilliant in those respects.

I did a fair number of two-week trips to the South of France. Spain and Italy in mine and there was always room for all the stuff for me and the Mrs.

Ditto. I've toured in mine.

They do some may things so well.

It's been interesting reading about the tyres I'll keep that in mind when I come to replace mine. To be fair to Pirelli, even they said their F`1 tyres were bad but that was what they had been told to make.

Update.
HRO didn’t manage to book the car in with Porsche this week so it’s going in on Monday. They said they will likely leave it to Porsche to replace the tyres. What will Porsche choose as their default option? I asked that they request Michelins but, disappointingly, the level of service from HRO has dropped off somewhat since taking my deposit, and I’m pretty sure I he won’t even mention the Michelins.

They'll put Pirellis on no doubt.

Phone the dealer principal at HRO and the OPC first thing Monday morning and make your voice heard. As a new owner, both will be pleased to please you. HRO to get the rest of your cash, OPC to get your future servicing business. I get the feeling some owners feel "inferior" to the Porsche staff. Don't do that - you're the boss, the customer. Tell the DPs that Michelins were the only tyre mentioned by you as acceptable, none other will do. Don't waver.

Forgive my recent absence, there have been many delays but today, at last, I finally took delivery of my car. And I am over the moon!
