Hi All,

I've been a modified SEAT owner since 2007, started with a modified Ibiza TDI, then Leon FR TDI, then MK2 Leon Cupra R and my current MK3 Leon Cupra 280 which is running 420ps at the moment.

I fancy something completely different, I have been looking and quite fancy a Cayman S, ideally I want a starting base of 300ps+ so looking at 2010 models on wards.

my 2014 Cupra is fully loaded with tech, LED headlights, DAB, Bluetooth, Sat-Nav, auto lights , heated seats etc etc etc. So I'm looking for a Porsche with a similar level.

are most of these standard on Cayman S or are they optional extras? is there any optional extras that are must haves?

What years have what power? And apart from Software (I'm looking at APR as I have been a APR customer on both my petrol Cupra's) what else can be done to add a little more poke? I've not owned a standard car since 2007 haha.

Ha! Last time I looked, to spec all the stuff my Leon had as standard on a new 911 the options alone came to almost as much as I paid new for the SEAT.

Porsches are very spec sensitive on the second hand market. That's not say a Porsche with no options is a bad car, but it is worth a lot less than one with the sought after options. To get your head around it all is a bit like learning another language.

Yeh have realised that! I have accepted that the sat-nav is going to be quite out of date compared to my current one. It's got to have bluetooth, cruise, xenon headlights and would like auto lights etc.

All those are optional extras - you'll need a lot of luck to find a car with them all!

Remap, exhaust, headers are the main areas to get gains, but you won't get a huge jump like have done with your turbo motors. Modding Porsches is not cheap either...

I would say needle In a haystack on that spec.

Begining to realise that, have found a few with bluetooth, xenons.

is auto lights part of having xenon or is that another extra?

Back to this topic still looking...

Originally I was looking at 981 2013-2015 models, but recently been looking at 987 around 2012.

is there any mechanical difference between the 981 3.4 and 987 3.4? I'd be looking at Exhaust system, intake and remap.

I was looking for a few months before I got mine which luckily had a huge amount of options plus the colour combo and history that fitted my requirements .Overall there were only 3 other 981 Boxster S's during that time that were similar so in percentage terms you're talking low single digit cars for sale with really big specs. Similar Caymans possibly even rarer.

Everybody’s idea of must have options differs, and what you need is often dictated by the kind of use the car is going to get.

My 981 is a second fun car, as such I’d value options like PSE and nice rims over things like auto climate and wipers ... there’s plenty here that will say those are absolute must haves though!

it would be a weekend car used also for trips, basically replacing my 420ps Cupra. My daily is a MK2 Golf GTI (with TDI conversion)

Jesus Christ I like that colour. Is that Viper Green on a standard 981? I thought you couldn’t have that?

You've got to be quick to get a good 981.

I got an Autotrader alert on Tuesday lunchtime for a local one in good spec up for £38k. Wednesday lunch it was gone. Friday it was up for sale at a local dealer for £43k.

My search continues...
