Expensive Squeak

Glad to hear there was a happy ending even though it dented your wallet a bit for what turned out to be an unnecessary second opinion.
Thanks.Yeah it's all a bit strange, I can't get my head round it really, especially why the first guy didn't want paying (I transferred him some anyway just out of goodwill).
Nice to get it back and have had a great couple of days out in the sun with it

Picked it up Friday from the first garage and it's all fixed
Guy said it was the rollers and didn't want any money, really can't fault him for service like that.
By rights I should go running back to the second garage asking what the hell they were playing at but I just want to put it behind me now and fingers crossed it's all fixed and ok from now on.
If indeed it was the rollers (I guess you mean tensioning rollers by that) how was the noise still there with the belts off?Guy said it was the rollers and didn't want any money, really can't fault him for service like that.

I wouldn't have sent him money when I certainly wouldn't be using a liar again! Rollers indeed...
I've re-read this thread twice and I think the first guy actually came good ? Sorted it FOC in the end. Which I guess means it must have been something fairly simple. It's the second bunch that I'd be avoiding. £348 to not find the squeak, and apparently lie about it still being present when the belt was removed, and ask for a further £1400+VAT as a starting point for further work ! That's pretty shocking.

To the OP - glad it’s all sorted.
