991.2 GT3 noisy PCCB

I'm up to 1400 miles now but not really pushed the brakes hard but they are embarrassingly noisy at just about any speed, especially low speed.

Anyone else have a similar issue?

meh. Stomp on them real hard a few times decelerating from motorway speed, and it'll go away. For a while at least. Squeaky carbon ceramics are part of the experience though wink

And squeaky steel brakes if my car is anything to go by.

Annoyed me in other cars, strangely doesn’t worry me in the 3.

My carbon brakes have never squeeqed ... now on my fourth set / car.

My suggestion would be to give them a really good jet-wash to get any brake dust out of them ... then too how they are.

Are you running standard pads ?

Glazed them I would say.
You might now need new pads.

You can try 4 or 5 120mph stops see if it cures it, don't stop or let abs cut in while you do it, then go for a short drive to cool them a bit.

How to bed in PCCB's

Is that necessary ? Clearly braking from 100 mph plus is not something easily done in this country.

Clearly very easy to drive at 100 mph....whether you can do that and keep your licence is another matter. A plea to the local magistrate that you were "bedding in your PCCB's as per the disc manufacturers instruction" is hardly likely to be greeted with any sympathy!

Finish the running in with a good track day ???

Assuming it's 1400 miles from new .... (so it will be standard pads ...)

Well accepting that you should get three trackdays plus some running around out of set of PCCB pads (to half on my GT4) ... you were probably working those very hard.

Heat is the enemy and my half worn pads were exchanged because they were so cracked even with two cooling down laps. I replaced my discs with ST long fibre solid carbon discs and all of a sudden the pads are lasting for ages ...

At the October PCGB Oulton Park date after two cooling down laps my front discs were at 140C and the rear at 70C ... and when I'm on the brakes I'm on them ...

As fitted to the Aston Martin Valkyrie .... the originals are boxed up !

I didn't think so and certainly hope not! I'm optimistically holding out for a faulty wear sensor, but local OPC will tell...

Aren't the 997 disks/pads a different generation to those on the GT4 - so not apples with apples?

I think they changed the recipe from marzipan based pad material to something more serviceable on the later cars.

Interesting after around 2500 Track Miles GT3.2 over 12 track Events my CCBDs are showing 20% worn, in keeping with the 111 point inspection range. On 2nd set of Pads that are down 25% from new. Try and do a cooling lap if conditions allow.
