I need advice from the PH style gurus to solve this crushingly first world dilemma smile

I have a hankering for replacing the rather lame "Cayman S" decals on my '14 981 with the side decals found on the 981 GT4. Would this be a cool thing, or a naff thing? I'm undecided. confused

BTW, nothing to do with trying to pass off the S as a GT4, lol. I just don't really like the existing decals all that much and have always liked the ones that were on the old Cayman R and the GT4. For info, the car colour is Racing Yellow.

Cheers!

Lose the side decals.

Do not replace them with anything and definitely not with those from a more exclusive/expensive model.

'Lookalike' is about the saddest word in the automotive vocabulary, in my view.

Your car do what you want to do ..personally I would leave alone its not a GT4 and never will be .There are other decals around which may suite it as well ..Just my opinion

yep do it, the GT4 is not a GT4 decal any way it's robbed from a Cayman R and that design is only a bit away from cars of old.

Fit what you like. look at all the GT3's with 911R stripes , well and even GTS's

Take off and leave plain. There's nothing more naff than stickers on cars unless they're factory fitted or in the official option list at the time.

I also dislike mixing newer wheel designs with earlier model cars.....I view those cars with suspicion....

Mine is yellow, and I like the way porsche placed the GTS on the front bottom of each door.
Its a nice touch, and I have considered placing 981 on that area in the same style letters.
I haven't quite got the guts to do it?....................yet

It’s your car, do what you want. They are not permanent so no problem removing before sale. My only recommendation would be to not put anything on which refers to another model. A graphic saying GT4 on a Cayman S or GT3 on a Carrera S might impress the uninformed but will mark you out as a prize nob to anyone who knows the difference.

There is no GT4 only side decal, just the motorsport "Porsche" stripe that every man and his dog has. If you like it, go for it smile

Yes, these are the ones I'm talking about, which I think are on the Cayman R and the GT4.

Frankly, I'm undecided. May just remove the original "Cayman S" ones and leave it naked, or put on the Porsche stripes. Decisions, decisions... biggrin

Of course if you opted for GT Silver (as i did) adding a GTS decal may perhaps be legitimate addition? hehe

That said my preference was for a less 'cluttered' area under the rear wing and de-badge my 718CS ('Porsche' under the wing seemed more than enough for me).

I have them on my 987.2 Cayman S. Do it, and if you don't like them you can always take them off. I had mine made by a chap on eBay called Grafshed that provided a good quality product at a good price.

I didn't want it to be too loud on my Platinum Silver car do went with Black Porsche writing with Grey surround/lines.

I also changed the bonnet badge to Silver with muted red enamel.

V happy with these subtle changes, and can always remove them if/when I want to.
