High miles Boxster - should I buy it?
Discussion
I've just been to see and drive a 2005 Boxster 3.2S manual. It seems to be in lovely condition having had 2 previous owners. It drives great too. I'd love to buy it but I'm being frightened off by 2 things. One is the IM shaft bearing issue. Should this bother me on this car? And the other is the very high mileage of 148,000 miles. There is full OPC service history up to 2015. From then there is nothing. The service indicator is saying a service is due. The car also needs 2 new rear tyres. The vendor told me had bought the car from JTC600 in Leeds. They had it stood for 2 years before that after buying it from a deceased estate. It was apparently fully recommissioned for use before he bought it. I can buy the car for six thousand pounds. The question is should I? Head suggests one thing, heart another? What should I do? Any help would be most gratefully received. Thanks.....

Doesn't seem like value to meI was going to buy one last year for £7500 with 115,000 miles on, it had had nearly £6k spent on it in the last 2 years or so refreshing most of the suspension and a few other bits
Ended up spending £10.5k on one with 75,000 miles and loads of work done again, both seem like a better buy to me

Have you checked the MOT history online? You might pick up some useful background information, such as as when the miles were added and if/when it was actually taken off the road. Also fails/advisories.Having said that, it's still 13 years old on 148,000 miles from a brand known for high running costs. Regrettably parts and labour are no cheaper on a £6,000 Porsche than they are for a £60,000 one - and you're more likely to need them.
