Fixed Price Servicing
Discussion
My 981 Boxster S is due a service in the next few months. Ive been shopping around a few of my local opc's and they all seem to be signed up to the fixed price servicing.
I seem to recall hearing from somewhere that not all opc's had signed up to this and therefore you may be able to negotiate the costs of servicing more with them.
Any truth in this? An if so, are there any in the South East?

Reading OPC do not part-take in fixed price servicing, I do not think any of the Porsche retail group do.
Fixed price cost are competitive and i do not think you will get an OPC service for less.
As an example, Reading OPC, expect a cost at least double of what is offered from other OPC's under the fixed price menu

Your recollection isn't wholly misguided but I think you have it the wrong way round. Some OPCs have rates HIGHER than the national fixed price scale. You have to try to negotiate them DOWN to that level.
March 2018 - quoted "fixed price" £1,155 for 40k major service OPC Leicester including belt check, spark plugs, brake fluid.
Phoned OPC Sutton Coldfield. Service receptionist asked service manager what they could do. £900 all in. Same items.
That's where I went. However, I do not recommend SC OPC.
Shop around... but cheapest may mean crappiest.

Fixed price servicing is very cheap.
You'll not get it for any less.
So if your local don't do it, ask them to match the price of it.
I don't call Fixed price cheap by the time you add in extra'sYou'll not get it for any less.

My Golf CS was £173 my R was about £800.
nothing cheap about fixed priced servicing bar it's fixed !!

£495 for the scheduled 2yr/20,000m service on my 981, plus £95 for brake fluid. So £580 or £290 a year. Your Golf is annual servicing too I guess, and my wife's Focus RS is around £150 a year for a minor service, more for a major. My Golf CS was £173 my R was about £800.

Porsche fixed priced servicing for the minor services isn't cheap, no, but it's not astronomical. It's the major's that add up.

They only change the oil on a minor so £500 for an oil change is shocking imo.Porsche fixed priced servicing for the minor services isn't cheap, no, but it's not astronomical. It's the major's that add up.
They don't change filters or anything.

Pollen filter is changed, but no air filters aren't. It is shocking, but as it's every two years £250 vs £150 for a Focus isn't that extreme. It depends how you look at it.They don't change filters or anything.

Major includes all the items on a minor service, which gets oil change & oil filter change too. At least that's what the 'fixed price servicing' states on the Porsche websiteThey don't change filters or anything.

£470 (Inc brake fluid) over 2 years is nothing. Even les if you provide the oil. They don't change filters or anything.
They don't change the air filter but they change the pollen filter and the oil filter obviousy. As well as give the car a general check over and a stamp in the book. Dont forget the loan car for a couple of days.
I'd say that's relatively cheap for a sports car! When you compare to other marques with a £150-200 per yearly service, it almost seems a bargain.
Minor service includes:
•Fault code analysis
•Replacement of pollen filter
•Replacement of oil filter and engine oil using Mobil 1 oil
•Provision of one litre Mobil 1 top-up pack
•Inspection of: vehicle underside and engine compartment, coolant hoses, coolant (level and antifreeze check), radiator, air intake, brake system, brake hoses and lines, drive shafts, tyres, locks and latches, electrical equipment, horn, windscreen wiper washing system, power steering and fluid level check and lighting system (including headlights and indicators)
•Final test drive to check all major safety, comfort and mechanical systems for effective operation followed by final post-drive fluid level check

so an oil change and pollen filter that's it as I stated :-) £500 we have a different view on what a bargain isThey don't change the air filter but they change the pollen filter and the oil filter obviousy. Are we to take it you DIY all your servicing to make sure it's done properly? If not, why not? Because, let's face it, any idiot can do an oil change and pollen filter.
Pricing depends on age as well as major/minor rates. Quite a lot done at 6 years in addition to the standard minor - irc. Also savings can be negotiated if warranty inspection needed, MoT, etc. Club membership pays for itself at service time too. I have not found Porsche's 'fixed price' cheaper in such circumstances.
I find it unbelievable that the same company that publishes the “fixed” price pricelist on their own National PCGB website don’t actually offer those prices themselves, theirs are actually higher...something extremely dodgy about the whole thing.
This is before you get into the frankly ludicrous value proposition they offer for an oil change. Please remember that spark plugs are an extra £400 on top of any major service too if you happen to own a GT3.
Possibly anti competitive behaviour & blatant taxation of the stupid.
