Looking at this one guys: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
Just seems a bit on the pricey side. Looking for your view on the market so I don't make a stupid purchase.
Thanks,
Eddie
Nice car and spec, I would say £2k over what I would pay from none OPC with 19k miles. I assume with no trade in there should be room to get it for a fair price which would pay for a porsche warranty if you wanted it. If they won;t budge I would hold out for an OPC car with 2 year warranty, depends how patient you are ;-)Just seems a bit on the pricey side. Looking for your view on the market so I don't make a stupid purchase.
Thanks,
Eddie

It's actually refreshing to get a different view for once rather than the seemingly prevailing view on here that the 981 is the best car ever built, which it's clearly not. I, also, drive a 981 btw !
Well I enjoyed researching which Porsche to go for, including watching/ reading reviews including much respected Chris Harris amongst other motoring journos and speaking to a couple of Porsche specialists. From that and other things I whittled down my choices and in the end decided the 981 Boxster S PDK would be the 'best ' car for me!
So far it's living up to all the universal hype it received from the motoring press.

For what its worth I would take a 981 GTS over an R or 991 GT3 as a road car any day of the week. I would take the R or GT3 over a 981 GTS for track any day of the week.
Most people on here are looking for road cars not track cars.
To put a balanced slant on things (ha) the 981 GTS is one of the best drivers road cars you can buy, at any price, simplez ;-)
Ps the best all round car you can get is a RR Vogue but thats only slightly less relevant than comparing the GTS to a track orientated car !
I wish it were one of the best drivers cars for £60k it would save me a lot of money :-).For what its worth I would take a 981 GTS over an R or 991 GT3 as a road car any day of the week. I would take the R or GT3 over a 981 GTS for track any day of the week.

I have noted this before - every time MrD posts 'I have owned X cars', X increases by quite a large amount. Now I have been on this forum for a long time, and have read a lot of the posts and by my reckoning he's added at least 34 cars to this number in the last 4 years.
I think he's posted on around 5 or 6 Porsches and a few DDs in this time.
So, I'll go all in and call; list the 34 plus cars owned since January 2014, when 'more than 50' was posted as the number.

In the last year or so I have been through 8 my number is less owned sorry 73 , 74 now the GT3 has arrived, not "93 typo", I have lost count really, Just about to swap 2 or maybe 3 out and 2 new in. So that will be 10 in the last 18 months. I want a Lotus and the oh wants a mini again. So that’s about right 24/25 since 2014. I thought I was slowing down a bit lol

I think to be able to drive any car really well you have to have driven it exclusively for a number of years. You have to become "one" with it to know all its little foibles. I had an E46 330ci for nine years and it almost became an extension of my body.In the last year or so I have been through 8 my number is less owned sorry 73 , 74 now the GT3 has arrived, not "93 typo", I have lost count really, Just about to swap 2 or maybe 3 out and 2 new in. Swapping and changing cars so often, it would be absolutely impossible to be a good driver of any of them.

It's toppy for a non-OPC car but it's a good spec with only the slightly higher mileage working against it.
Does it have a transferable Porsche warranty? If not, factor in circa £2k to put the car through the 111-point check and add 2yrs Porsche extended warranty. If you can get it for around £53k I think that would be reasonable but will the dealer drop that far?

But then again you are obviously choosing the wrong cars as the ones we tend to flip provide a few months free motoring

You are either a good driver or you are not a good driver. A good driver will suss out how to get the best out of any car within an hour of driving it (so I’ve been told).
..... “you have to become one with it”, you’ve been reading too many fantasy novels, a car is a tool that you use, simple as that.
