Someone scratched my car. Never been hit before, I know who it was they left me a note. It’s gone through the paint I think because the black bits are in (if that makes sense). Estimated cost? Don’t really want to go through insurance because I have heard that even if it’s their fault my premium will go up??

Any help from PH would be excellent.

Smart paint co. would do it for £50 but IME they don't last.

Back street paintshop £70 to blow in the corner, £150 to do the entire bumper

Coup,e of hundred quid for a full bumper respray would be about right for up north. The guy I use in Rochdale would be about that price

Why? Wouldn't it go through her insurance? You are not claiming of your own insurance. Besides, claim back any increased insurance costs from her insurance company.

With it being silver the right way would be to have the bumper repainted and colour blended into the wings as it's highly likely the colour will be off. It's likely you will be into 4-500 for this.

Obviously you could have a smart repair of a localised repair to the bumper but it depends on how much you want to spend and how particular you are with things looking 'right'.

Castleton Motor Bodies? They’ve done me proud on my cars. OP, you’re in Lancs, so not that far away, give them a call & ask for Geoff.

No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

Yeah but hasn't there been stupid policies where the victim's insurance company has to be notified of an incident (even if it's not their fault).... only to then have their premiums go up (shafted).... I've read stories like that over the years and I'm guessing that's why he is asking...?

The premiums will go up at renewal as you will have to declare the incident, but you really shouldn't be losing any no claims bonus. Deal with her insurance directly regarding the incident. I would push her insurance for some compensation of your increased risk profile to cover the cost of your increased insurance through no fault of your own.

You should notify your own insurance if the incident for transparency, but make it clear that you are not claiming.

Direct Line have a current tv ad about not losing no claims if hit when parked.

Worked for me in 2014.
