Just not using my 718 so considering going down to a 1 car household. Anyone recently sold one? Did you get the price you wanted?

IIRC that's a low mileage car still under warranty so official dealers will probably be scrambling to take it from you, albeit "at a price". At 18 months old they'll probably be able to sell it for something close to what you paid (there's always someone looking for an "instant Porsche sports car" rather than waiting months for delivery of a new one) but will want a good margin to take out of it.

Traders? I'd have thought they'd be interested, and you might get a decent price as they won't have warranty exposure. I'd look at marque specialists rather than the local corner site.

Private sale? Quite an expensive car for that market but worth a try, as you can offer the car a lot cheaper than they'd have to pay at a dealership and it's still under warranty.

I compare what's offered by dealer/traders with what dealers/traders are selling for and then sell privately at any figure between the two with a mental minimum of "£1,000 over trade-in". For a relatively expensive car you might set that mental minimum at £2k over or even more, depending what you find. I don't hold out for months looking for an ideal sale, I just get the car off my driveway as quickly as possible at an acceptable price.

Sad you have to sell but I would think you will suffer a 25 - 30% loss on new purchase price sadly.

Two people have posted on here in recent months who have sold recently. Both openly admitted that they had taken a significant hit. One was a CS and the other a GTS IIRC.

Sold mine 6 months ago, replaced with new C63 coupé.

To give you an idea:
718 Cayman S, highly optioned, 63k full price.
Sold back to same main Porsche dealer at 47k exactly 1 year later, with around 4k on the clock.

That's a 25% drop.

The Porsche dealership offer above was 3-4K more than the trade-in price if I'd have gotten at Mercedes if I'd done part-exchange. WBAC and similar were around the same trade-in price as Mercedes.

Ouchy. I lost 11.5k over 2 years and 10k miles on my high spec 981 BGTS, which although a lot, felt not too unreasonable.

And I only lost 5 pence on my insanely high spec 981 after 4 years and 60,000 because the 981 is, quite literally, the BEST car ever built.

Hello mate! Do you miss your GTS? You'd have still got the same price this year too,

Yes, but to be fair I miss all my old cars for different reasons. Except the 2001 Mini Cooper S, that was horrible.

I loved the BGTS, and there's nothing quite like speccing a car to your exact tastes and collecting it from the factory. And I miss the noise a lot. But the reality was it had stopped getting used as soon as our first child arrived on the scene. So it made more sense to switch to a 997 GTS where I could at least put a car seat in the front and squeeze my other half in the back so we could all go out together. Even bought one of these for family days out: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=gb+pockit+stroll...

When our second was born in November last year, the 997 GTS stopped getting used so that went as well. Ended up with an R8 V10 (scratching an itch I've had for ages) and coming on for £17k change in my pocket. Actually, truth be told it's getting used more than I thought it would as I've been going to a lot for car events this summer with it stickered up for a car app I'm launching with some friends i.e. I've been getting more "day passes" from my other half to go out since it's not just a jolly biggrin

Wow - losing £16,000 for 4000 miles (roughly £1,200 per tank of fuel!)

Did you hate the 718 so much that you had to get rid of it?

Walked past OPC Mayfair the other night - not exaggerating when I say that half their showroom was 718s. Am not bashing the car at all but they definitely seem hard to shift.

This might help you understand?
Porsche has temporarily closed order books for its entire range as it updates and retests each model to the new Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) standards, which come into force in September.

A spokesman told Autocar that Porsche has increased its existing stock of cars to reduce the order bottleneck this causes, but buyers wanting to spec a completely custom model will have to wait until the WLTP-approved models reach market.

“Due to the time this test procedure takes, some models might not be ready for 1 September,” the spokesman said. “But we have grown the stocks of each car in the same way we would if a new model year were to be introduced so as to minimise the impact.”

As you still cant factory order dealers were told to increase stock before shut down.
Wouldnt get a factory ordered 718 until next year

Isn't that just pre owned? Don't think their new car stock goes on the web site.
