PDK and PSE standard, is what I heard.

Last week I was told by my local OPC that one can expect 1-2% price increase; PSE is going to be standard and initially only PDK will be available. However, manuals should be available to order from March :-)

Heard the same re no manuals for a while.

These new engine regs have seen to have caught the VW group totally unaware.

Rather bizarre that PSE is going to be standard when reviews seem to think it is to avoided - unless there is to be a significant revision in this area.

Sapphire and Graphite blues dropped. I can't work out if the sports exhaust (still standard single exit pipe) is now 'free' as the price increase only seems to reflect PDK unless I'm mistaken.

I liked the growl of the sports exhaust but got tired of the drone when sitting at the NSL. I'm glad I didn't bother with it but did go for the twin exhaust pipes.

Err no, what is bizarre is that people wouldn't spec it. It's switchable so I have no idea why anyone wouldn't want it. The 718 doesn't sound of anything really without it on.

Just for my understanding, the twin pipes are purely asthethic arent they, as opposed to any change in sound?

Was looking at ordering this weekend - til i found out no manuals on offer, and was going to go for the twin pipes rather than the PSE. Though now if the PSE is 'free' then no choice in the matter.

One thing i def dont like is all those blank buttons by the gearshift - shame you can get something to cover them all up like extra trim pieces.

By my calculations the base Cayman is now costs 1.4% more, but it includes PSE (albeit without the dual pipe finisher).
Options are the same price as before from recollection, but if ordering now one must spec PDK (£2K). OPC said manuals should be orderable by March.

Does anyone know if the "new" 718 is fitted with a Petrol Particulate Filter. If so that would likely soften the sound hence PSE included for free. Thinking about it ... a PSE and PPF ... yet the cost has only rise by 1.4%. So arguably it is now cheaper than before.

Just wish they'd hurry up with the manuals.

On the Porsche website, under tech specs for the 718s it now lists a ‘Gasoline particulate filter’.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that the 718 (base) is now (with PDK) almost exactly the same price to the pound as the Alpine A110 Pure. It wouldn't surprize me if Porsche felt they had to include something to counter the better basic spec of the A110 and since PSE has in the past been a popular option and isn't standard on the Alpine it was a good choice.

Slightly off topic. Sat in a A110 Premier at Blenheim Palace Supercar Show whilst they revved the knackers off it! Not sure what the press are raving about, when it comes to the sound - although heard a few more reviews with a similar view to mine. The engine and exhaust note felt very distant - admittedly it wasn't under load. Plus the interior was like a base Clio. poor plastics and switch gear. It may be great to drive, but with the noise and interior my money would still go Stuttgart.

Top Gear performance car of the year beating Ferrari McLaren etc etc. Porsche switchgear better? - you gotta be joking. The Alpine's switches may come from the Renault parts bin, but are far better placed and FEEL much better engineered. The steering column switches - particularly the indicators -made me cringe every time I used them on my Cayman.

Apparently the pse has been fitted as standard due to the fact that a gpf has had to be fitted due to the new regs . This has some what muffled the sound hence the inclusion .

Looks like the price difference between std car and s has closed up as well. Still a bargain though.

Don't think you can go far wrong with the base 718, I've one as a daily and they're great imo cheap as chips for a 170mph car driving

Agree with that. Looks like you have to go S now if you want a manual ?

You'd need a lobotomy to consider a Renault. Clio switch-gear that will depreciate like a stone ? No thanks.
