I've done some research and this could be expensive to fix, and is apparently a not uncommon fault with Sports Chrono cars. The car seems normal to drive.

Barrage of questions, sorry: Is it worth fixing, given that I only rarely drive in sports chassis mode? Should I replace both mounts with passive ones? Also any recommended Porsche specialist around south Lincs/Rutland/Peterborough way? It's a 14 plate, 32,000 miles.

Thanks for opinions.

My view is that you won't be able to sell the car without fixing it or reflecting the cost in asking price but that would put people off ie if you've not bothered fixing that what else have you not done ?

Fix it and at least get some benefit from it imho

Something is broken. Fix it correctly, leave the other one if it's OK.

I had this issue a couple of years ago on my Boxster S 14 plate. It was fixed under warranty. The part was under £30, the labour would have been about £1000.

I'm not planning on selling the car anytime soon.

There's no benefit to the active engine mounts - I never use them.

From what I've read, the part costs $1000 (US). We must be talking about different things.

Are you sure you can swap them for fixed mounts? Won't the ECU throw up an error code?

I know they are part of the sport chronograph pack so standard on a GTS but aren't they "on" constantly ie adapting with engine revs when they are fitted. You imply they only work when sport plus is activated ?

I had the same message as you and had The active mount replaced. The parts were not expensive, but the engine needed to be lifted.

I van only quote what was told to me by the service person, he may have been wrong, but was looking it up on his system whilst we talked. It was covered under warranty, so for me it wasnt an issue.

They also quote 4 hrs to fit . I think there was a thread on here that said had cost them £1500 to have done?

All I can say is I dropped the car off at 8:30am and and collected it at 16:30. what went on in between is up to them I suppose

I’ve had two of these things fail - and out BGTS has only done 17k miles! Porsche Centre Portsmouth told me the retail replacement cost is around £1,100 - fortunately in our case covered by the extended warranty.

I wouldn’t replace with passive stay original - surely you will have the fault permanently displayed?

Yes that was my understanding and personally I would just get it fixed.

Yep I’ve had both mine replaced at different times was told £950 +4hrs Labour. (Done under warranty). You can’t just stick a passive one in as its part of Chrono, you would somehow have to code it out in PIWIS, I’m not even sure the passive ones are direct drop in replacements. When I suggested this as a possible option to the OPC technician you would have though I’d asked for a blowjob the horror on his face!
