Just been contacted by my OPC to get the recall done and the car is now booked in for the job. There was no need to chase them about the issue myself and the timescale to get it done looks very reasonable (box is already in stock and allocated to my car). All very efficient so far.

I'm booked in for next Friday; they said they will need the car for a couple of days.

Out of interest, does the recall come from Porsche GB or via your OPC. My car is impacted by the recall, but when I contacted my local OPC (where the car has been serviced, but not where I bought it from) they said that I needed to wait for a recall letter.

Porsche (not my OPC) left me a few voicemails last week to get it booked in for the new gearbox, no letter so far.

From Wikipedia….

“Magna International Inc. is a Canadian global automotive supplier headquartered in Aurora, Ontario.
In July 2015, Magna bought the German company Getrag, specialized in transmission systems with about 13,500 employees, for 1.9 billion dollars.”

I wonder what effect that had on the Getrag 466 Cayman gearbox?

I spoke to my OPC and clarified some questions I had regarding the recall bulletin and asked about the oil separator issue.

To change the oil separator is a cost of £332.39 and that's inclusive of labour at 1.41h estimate and VAT. As there isn't a recall bulletin for the item, the OPC is saying that if they discovered it was fine, they'd charge for the part and installation.

A reasonable response given that there isn't a bulletin to support but he is going to clarify with PCGB who I expect will just say no as there isn't a part recall. The OPC maintains that it is a legislation issue which may govern the requirement in the US which I don't agree with but we'll see what comes back.

Anyone had the issue with the oil separator or had the change done?

Mines going in tomorrow to Wilmslow to be done. Booked in for 3 days. I checked on the Porsche website if My GT4 was effected and rang Wilmslow and booked it in last week. I got a letter today from Nottingham OPC though saying it needed to be done too.

Are you guys going to the 992 launch event on Friday night? I might have a look down in the workshops if a car is in for the 3rd gear fix. Mine is an early car and doesn't need it.

I wouldn't want a car back that has the propensity to have such a shocking failure (excuse the pun).

I wouldn't be happy with any repair to that strut tower.

Indeed and just to be clear... this is a vulnerability on all 9x1 GT cars.
