I know this is not an exact science but what do folks expect depreciation will be like in first 12 - 24 months on a new 718 GT4. With some cars already appearing on autotrader at what appear to be close to list, (saw one today at £92k with high spec) it would suggest these cars will follow a more normal depreciation pattern. I am tempted to take a GT4 until I can trade for a 718 Spyder though trying to gauge how big a hit I might take. Any thoughts appreciated.

I’m guessing but between £k15 to £k25 depending on how long you have it .

Several people keep saying this - exactly how many are we talking about?

If you buy at list, I'd expect a trade-in value of something around list-£10k after a year or so and <4k miles. Somewhere around list-£15k after two years and <8k miles?

They'll be propped up underneath by 981 GT4s and 718 GTS 4.0s so I'm expecting a sharpish drop to start then a slight levelling off.

Have been personally offered a couple of cars - even before GTS announcements, which i have posted about before
Very negotiable on the overs which was initially lower single K's in each case anyway.
They wanted them shifted.

Can only see that increasing as more cars become available. All the more reason to make sure people really buy the right car for them and for their use - because its a car...a depreciating asset, and not an investment vehicle.... pun intended.

Same OPC with two cancelled orders, TDT?

If so, it could be the same OPC is being quoted by different people so the number of cancellations look larger than they are?

Seems clear and many thanks. I could live with that.

Just to be clear - I'm no expert! A complete guess on my behalf smile

If my GT4 loses an average of £5k a year, as my 981 GTS has, that'll do for me.

Good luck with that, it's an urban myth.

I don’t know about cancelled ‘orders’, but I do know of two people who were high up on the list, who declined their option to buy when asked.
One, I think, has switched to CGTS.

Lets see a link to all these new GT4s available at list.

Sounds like the usual internet folklore/bullst to me.

Indeed. There have been two cancelled orders that I know of, but they're not exactly widespread at every dealer!

Pretty good chance of 10% tariff on 1/1/21 as can’t see any chance of a trade deal and we won’t extend transition

Been reading through these posts for a while and thought I would say Hi...

I have a GT4 "allocation" but not got my build date yet.
I paid my deposit back in September and the wait/lack of updates is really quite frustrating! Does anyone know when the build slots are released and how much notice there is between being given a build date and the actual date?

Thanks
Simon

A build slot is an allocation. You're currently on a promise of a build slot/allocation. There's another similar case discussed earlier in this thread.

You shouldn't have had to pay a deposit until an actual build slot was given to you. You need to have a frank conversation with your OPC.

I cancelled the insurance on my 981 gt4 which I sold last week for strong money.
Would you be happy share info on this (PM, as I wouldn’t ask you to do so publicly), I am considering moving my high spec 981 GT4 on in favour of a 911 GTS. Hope you don’t mind, but no worries if you’d rather not. Ta

With respect to Twinfan on GT cars OPC’s can and do ask for deposits before actual build slots are given. My OPC did on my GT3....I paid my £10k deposits in March 2017 when the car was launched, was told I would get a 2018 build slot, in November 2017 that was confirmed.

Some OPC’s don’t ask for deposits but I think most do.

OPC’s will know with a good degree of certainty how many cars they are getting this year but they generally get confirmed build slots for each quarter about six weeks before the quarter starts. So they should be getting those build slots around now for Q2. That said across the range there seems to be a back log of build slots.....my guess is there is a problem with the new EU rules on emissions for each manufacturer. I think the delay in Taycan production means they cant sell as many petrol cars.

It may be how your OPC works, Cheib, but it's a bit naughty. A deposit should only really be given for a confirmed order i.e. build slot with signed order form and spec. I certainly wouldn't give my OPC £10k on a "promise" of a car.

Deposits were returned on some unfilled 981 GT4 orders as I recall. I thought the OPCs had learned from that as it's not great business to piss your customers off!

Hmm... I'll have to go and have a read back in this thread, I must have missed that, thanks...
I have a "New Vehicle Order Form" from them!
