No not got a cage I did not have one because the 981 half cage rattled like mad and the effect of the cage in my opinion does not justify the rattles, its not like a GT3 where a cage is part of its DNA. I will only do 3 or 4 track days a year and they won't be chasing lap times.

Geoff
Had the same noise in my 981 GT4 and it really p***ed me off every time I heard it. Passengers used to cringe the first time they heard it. Dealers couldn't fix it and even though they accepted the noise was there they showed very little interest in finding a solution. The biggest disappointment of my GT4 ownership and one of the main reasons I sold the car.

Sadly it seems they still haven't found the solution if the 718 GT4 has the same issue.... Shame on you Porsche

Picked mine up on Friday, went to the PCGB dinner on Saturday and Bicester on Sunday now got just over 300 miles on it, being carefully run in and intend to do an oil change before giving it the beans.
Couple of items I've picked up so far and not sure if anyone else has had similar, firstly I have had a metallic clonk from the rear suspension when going over a noticeable dip / pot hole at both slow and reasonable speeds. Secondly the cruise control makes a really odd engine noise when its holding back the car on for example a downward slope where the car would naturally gain speed.

Please see a couple of pictures I am more than happy with the look.

Congrats Geoff. Best Colour - and really popping with the Arum wheels.

The clunking is down to the fact the rear suspension of the GT4 is mostly solidly mounted.

However, I found that this had pretty much disappeared for me though, since getting proper suspension/chassis alignment

But you will still get some noises... its a GT car.

If I hit a bad bump I get a clunky noise in my
981 GT4.....no big drama - I didn’t buy a track focused GT car and expect it to ride bumps like a Maybach......

Yes I had it very occasionally on my 981 GT4 but this time its seems worse quite loud and very much metal on metal as the suspension goes down and then comes back up. Maybe a trip to Centre Gravity in about 1000 miles may help at least someone who knows what he is looking at maybe able to give me an answer. Might just give Chris a call.

Thanks for ruining the story for those that haven’t opened their copy. You deserve a flat tyre for that. ✌️✌️

For GT4 RS. Do we have any insider info on transmission?

My thought was PDK only all along, but then someone posted last week saying his source mentioned manual only and he is we very surprised.

I realize a lot of these rumors are "he said, she said", but I'm curious what others are hearing.

Meanwhile in USA im hoping we start to get more build slots.

That's not very nice, just a happy chappie having just picked up his new toy.
I guess your one of the few that doesn't turn to the last page to see the results.

You should always be careful wishing things on others because you never know !

Just for your information I did have a puncture on holiday at the top of Mount Ventoux, this entailed a long wait in the pouring rain after getting soaked trying unsuccessfully to seal the tyre with the gunk. A recovery truck eventually took the car to a French OPC to get the centre locks off and 2 new tyres (additional tyre due to tread difference) and 3 days later I eventually got on my way.

So I've been there and got the T shirt.

One person on Rennlist has claimed manual only, but I think it'll be PDK only.

My main reasoning is the current Cayster manual gearbox. The RS is likely to have a bit more power and torque than the GT4/Spyder, and therefore it would need a whole new manual gearbox as the current unit is at its torque limit. The same unit is also used in the 718 GTS and is in fact torque limited at the same limit as the GT4 - the 718 GTS PDK actually has a touch more torque. Whether the PDK GT4/Spyder will also have more torque is yet to be seen. Surely if a manual gearbox with a higher torque limit had been developed, we'd have it in the GT4/Spyder to spread out development costs? That's what happened with the manual in the 911R subsequently going into the 991.2 GT3.

The only way around the enforced torque limit for the RS would be to maintain peak torque higher up the rev range and therefore increase max BHP without increasing torque.

There's also the fact that the RS mule that was spotted on the 'Ring in several videos clearly had a PDK 'box...

It was a virtual flat tyre tongue out I was wishing you not a real one that always seems to happens in the rain as you clearly found out.
Enjoy the car, looks great
