Has anyone managed PTS with a Spyder or a GT4? Is that a straight out no?
I asked someone from Porsche UK who checked with a German colleague when I was at FoS and was advised that there would be no PTS for the UK. Hopefully that'll change.

I put a Letter of Intent in 4 years ago and, obviously not being a good enough customer, haven't heard anything back yet...

I recommend trying both if you can as it really comes down to what shape you are…
i'm only 5'7'' and average build, so the folding buckets are a perfect fit and very comfortable for me.

heated seats are a lovely thing to have in an open top car
or even in a closed top car if you drive all year round. get into the car on a crisp winter morning in just your t shirt or a shirt and it's nice to quickly warm up with the heated seats.

I really was looking forward to lizard green after seeing that Instagram pic of what looked to be a lizard car. Belts came, then stitching. Only to find out lizard is being discontinued...
Why tease us!!!

Collected mine on Friday, not had a chance to put many miles on it yet due to the very wet weather, first impressions compared to my 981 are clutch much lighter and exhaust note a lot quieter, it pains me to say it but that 888Mf chap is absolutely right about not being able to hear the engine when compared to 981.

Re seats my 2 p’s worth, FWIW:

I am 6 foot tall, 80 KGs and quite broad shouldered (and a company director smile )

The full 918 bucket and the folding bucket both fit me very well, i have done lots of miles in both, on road and track. The folding bucket is slightly more comfy but is unquestionably set a bit higher and I do get the perched on rather than in feeling. However in a Spyder for me the requirement for heated seats massively overrides the slightly perched feeling. I did over 100 miles in mine mainly motorway on Sunday with the top down, bum warmers on and it was brilliant.

My choice GT4; 918 buckets, Spyder; folding buckets.

Hope you can survive the wait woohoo

Unfortunately the dealer doesn’t have anything in stock with the seats to check. I find that a little surprising, but I can’t see why he would lie to me.

I went for the fixed in the end, as I’d rather feel more in the car, hopefully similar to my old Exige. I can live without the heated seats. I haven’t decided yet whether I will get winter tyres yet and if it’s cold enough to need the seats it’ll be cold enough for winter tyres!

I’m also considering whether to swap the tyres out for something more road focussed. I got caught out with cups on my 996 turbo and ended up aquaplaning into the Armco a few years ago and writing it off!

Looks great in Miami blue ....

An OPC has my deposit for a 718 Spyder- I asked for them to get back to me later next year when PDK build slots are available. Ideally I’d like PDK plus a PTS colour- although I accept this is a real long shot.

Anyone know if Miami Blue is being discontinued (it's still on the configurator)? For me, it was an influence in going for it, as it will be limited as a result - as close to PTS as you can get!

Picking my GT4 on Saturday; it was delivered last week but have had it PPFd. I reckon it will left in the showroom at Tonbridge over Christmas if anyone fancies a gander.

Not heard anything about Miami or Crayon being discontinued. Miami is popular across models, and a good earner for Porsche given the price of it, so I would expect them to keep it available.

When I ordered my Spyder I was told it was being discontinued on the Spyder in March of 2020 (didn’t ask about the colour being discontinued in general)

I have to say the Spyder looks super cool in Miami , but in fairness, I’m biased. smile

Interesting.

If it goes, it would have to be replaced with something else given the limited palette available on Spyders/GT4s.

So pleased the clutch is lighter I got stuck in 4 hour tailback last summer in my 981 the clutch was heavy I had a dead leg when I got home. Anyone else find this?

I hear this often and don’t get it. I have done 15k miles in my GT4, in all sorts of traffic and never even noticed the clutch. More evidence that the young skinny jeans brigade don’t have any leg muscles.

I was told same thing when I ordered mine - there was a flag on the dealer ordering system that said Miami could not be ordered beyond a certain point in 2020. Not clear whether it will come back later in year. Miami is a bit of a marmite colour but I love it

Depends if you like reasonable weighting on a Porsche GT clutch. I do. It's not a standard Cayman.

I consider the clutch and gearbox weighting to be perfect in the 981 GT4. The clutches in the 991.2 GT3 and now the 718 GTs are too light but this reflects current trends and it's a pity Porsche see fit to follow this dilution in their relatively hardcore GT models.

I’m yet to witness a GT4 driver in skinny jeans however maybe you take more notice of other men’s leg muscles than I do.

As a powerfully built company director and GT4 owner I have no problems with the clutch. In fact I can push a camper van with no effort whatsoever. I put it down to all the porridge I’ve had over the years.

Yellow stitching and yellow dials....R is going to self combust ! Bold spec....good for you ! I went bold with my GT3 and ticked the stupidly expensive yellow stitching box myself.
