I agree it looks fantastic.

Do you mind if I ask how you arranged for Topaz to perform the Paint Correction, Full PPF and Ceramic Coat prior to collecting the car from the OPC. Is this something that the OPC arranged on your behalf and you will be paying the OPC, or something that you arranged, in which case are the OPC comfortable with the car going to Topaz and coming back again.

Can I be cheeky and ask how much the Topaz work cost?

CDR
Thanks CDR

A number of dealer groups/OPC's (Jardine/Lancaster, H.R. Owen, Dick Lovett etc..) now have direct relationships with Topaz, which means that it can be fully coordinated by the OPC and allows you to have the cost included in the total car price/finance, just like any other item of optional equipment/accessories etc..

My RS was supplied by Dick Lovett and after my recent snow caused crash, is currently in DL Swindon bodyshop having a new bumper and bits..As i had the PPF put on by Topaz through DL prior to registration its included in the insurance repair..If the PPF had been done through myself afterwards the replacement PPF would not be paid by insurance..

That is a very good point.... I was assuming that would be the case but good hear that it's actually been proven out .... Well not so good for you in that you're having to put it to the test, but you know what I mean.... Wishing you all the best with the repairs.

I managed to have an accident in my partner's Abarth Spider, which had PPF applied afte purchase. The bodyshop organised the replacement of the PPF and it all went in with the claim, so I'd say the the above is an assumption, not fact.

Strictly speaking there is no obligation for an insurance company to replace anything added to a car after insurance being taken out..A PPF fitted afterwards is not OE and technically a modification..It depends what a bodyshop will do and say as they vary quite a lot IME..

No difference, yours was not OE fitment either.
You get a quote to fix the car they would quote you inc ppf.

How did you get the activation code required for the app?
The 718’s are still on the old system which is a bit long winded... you need to follow these steps:

1: You should receive a “Please confirm your new vehicle” email – This is generated as soon as they scan your car into the UK at the docks.
2: Follow the link and setup the “Connect Services” in “My Porsche” – You will see a “PCM pairing code” that you need to send to your OPC for them to enter into the car.
3: Go to the Porsche Vodafone Telematics site and add your new car - https://pcc.vodafonetelematics.com/cwp/login.do
4: Step 3 will generate a “Dealer Service Installation Code” and form which you need to send to your OPC for them to enter into the car.
5: Download the Porsche “Car Connect” mobile app.
6: Once your OPC completes step 4 you will receive a text with an activation code to enter into the Porsche “Car Connect” mobile app.
Thanks again for this info - I've now got the app connected to my GT4 smile

If you're happy with silver stitching, you need the leather interior option at £1242 for the leather dash. The same thing with red or yellow stitching also needs the £834 decorative stitching option.

Yep, it's £834 to have red or yellow - no other differences.
I just looked at my 981 Spyder Invoice and red stitching was a bargain £558.00 incl Vat back then laugh

No problem, great news.

I saw mine in person for the first time yesterday (I’m also on the Michelins), it’s looking so good in the OPC showroom, only 5 days to go now! biggrindriving

+ After all that bad weather we’ve been having it’s actually a lovely day here, so kind of regretting delaying collection until Friday. Still, probably best to collect on Friday when I’ve a got a nice long weekend to play with her.

Although not as great a bargain as the free standard fit sports bucket seats and chrono.

Hi guys,

My Spyder arrives in the next few weeks... I’m thinking about PPF and just wanted to ask for some kind advice...

Is it worth having just the front of the car PPF wrapped? (I’ve been quoted just under a grand for the front end - and almost 3k for the full car). And if you have just the front done, what about the rest of the car? Do you just leave it as it is, or then add a ceramic coating, or just a regular polish and wax?

Without sounding a donut... Will the PPF section look slightly different from the rear, or wash any differently?

Also my car will be arriving at Reading. Can anyone offer any advice on recommended detailers with relationships / set-ups in place there? Or a local firm so the car doesn’t have to travel too far before the wrap/polish?

What’s everyone else doing? PPF, Ceramic, or just rocking the dirt look?

Really appreciate any helpful advice,

Many thanks

- And just to contribute to the forum, I’ve read a couple of posts from people who are without an order who are thinking about buying, unsure whether to pay the overs, then future values etc etc.

With my old 981 Spyder I paid 9k over. Bought with 300miles on the clock. Couldn’t get a new one. But I had to have it... So, I paid the overs price. Sure at the time it pissed me off a little... but it was my only option to get the car. And I really wanted it.

I always swap my cars quite regularly, usually within 6-12 months... The Spyder... I kept it for 3.5 years!

The point to the story is; if you see one you really like and want, and the deal looks ok - then just f**k it... Bite the bullet and go for it!!
I promise you wont regret it one bit and won’t ever look back. Life’s too short...

And if you do have it for a few years, you will win where it loses little value in comparison to others.

Bottom line... Go for it and Enjoy spin

On my GT4 I'm having the front bumper drilled to fit the number plate plinth, I'm letting the OPC wash and prep the car and I'll be washing the car myself when I think it looks a bit dirty. No PPF, no cermaic coating, no paint correction etc etc.

I'm just going to pick it up and drive it driving

Hey Kam, I debated a lot over this, and originally decided I wasn't going to bother with PPF at all. But then I reconsidered after I booked on to a Petrol Heads Tour trip to Scotland in April, and heard stories about stones flying everywhere up in Scotland. I'm now going for full PPF for peace of mind, and I know it will make me enjoy the car a lot more. My previous car had it, and I didn't really care when people and kids were all around it, whereas if it were not protected I know I'd be really fussy and probably beating up my neighbours kids if they ever got close to it.

I've seen plenty of cars that are front end only, and you don't really notice it unless you're looking for it. I did consider this, but by the time you negotiate, and economies of scales, grand scheme of things, I just went for the whole car. It's honestly personal preference though to cover your car up for the next person to enjoy wink

Reading area you've got relatively easy access to GVE, NVN, Topaz etc.
