I would use Porsche's pressures, as per the sticker in your car.

Why would an OPC know better?

Good to hear others opinions on this.

Believe it or not but the OPC said the same thing on the cost - ie, it's becoming so expensive that I wouldn't bother. It would probably be cheaper to save your money and get a respray done on bumper etc if needed further on down the road. Makes more sense to maybe consider this advice more so as it's a weekend car for me. I think that I would take the ceramic coat route option though. The OPC said they do this onsite. Is it better/cheaper to give it to a specialist or have the OPC do it? Any recommendations from the guys who have had it done along with cost?
For comparison a dealer will spend 4 hours on ceramic coating a car, whereas a detailers will spend 2-3 days, from my perspective it was worthwhile paying the extra as the difference in finish is noticeable to naked eye. I’ll be PPF’ing my 718 Spyder mainly because it’s a paint to sample forever car. Both myself and my father have experienced damage to our PPF’d cars, in both cases it protected the paint but panels were dented but enabled a smart repair to be done and PPF had to be replaced on the affected panels, cost wise it was less than a conventional repair, but in no way offset the upfront costs of the PPF, but cars still have original factory paint.
This is so different in the U.S where PPF is a fraction of the respray costs. I have guys on rennlist saying it cost them $500 for a track wrap where it would cost £2 k here and a bumper respray in the U.S is 1500.
I'm not going PPF as the repair to PPF + upfront cost negates any benefit.

Firstly, congratulations on securing a PTS 718 Spyder allocation! You can probably count on one hand the amount of PTS 718 Spyders allocated to the UK. I was given a firm no when I enquired and was also told it would likely be around £7k should it be offered to me anyway. So bearing that in mind, I totally understand you wanting to protect your investment on the paintwork. Out of interest, were your previous cars damaged on road or track use?

As I have a few months til the cars arrival, I will put a little bit more work into researching this topic. I am based in Berkshire. Has anyone had detailing work done in this area on their car and are able to make a recommendation?

Im getting my car from Portsmouth so was hoping to get ceramic coating done from someone local to the OPC before i collect it. I thought it was common these days to have the dealer arrange it (but not do it themselves obvs.).

I will double check this with my OPC but was under the impression they would be doing the ceramic coating in house.

Thanks feeling very fortunate, one was damaged in a carpark and the other was a large bolt that flew off the back of a truck on the other side of the motorway 20cm higher and probably would be around to tell the tale.

Something that I wanted to mention was the cost price of the car. When I was with my OPC last week to lock down the spec, his system was still coming up with my car with the MY2021 price along with the options associated with that years build. So the rear sensor and camera was still an £834 option. When I asked whether I would be paying the new price he said no as that price increase was for new MY2022 cars. Those cars that have already been ordered and are in the system will be paying the old prices.

Rightly so as well, will make the first lucky ones with an GT3 allocation locked in feel better.

It has been discussed surely before, but I have to ask again, so I'm sorry to bring it up;

The recommended tire pressure GT4;

Front 2.0 bar
Rear 2.3 bar

My car has been delivered with;
Front 2.3 bar
Rear 2.6 bar

I asked the dealer and their comment; the recommended tire pressure is fairly low for street use, better keep it somewhat higher.

Any opinions about that statement and tire pressure? I do not track the car, only spirited road driving.

Thanks for input

Same here. I took them back down to what the sticker says.

Don’t let any OPC apply ceramic coating ‘in house’.... It’s a full time professional occupation applying such products, not one for the guy who’s usually in charge of the Karcher and sponge at your dealership!

Some of the independent OPCs have affiliations with professional detailers, I know Lovett’s works with Topaz. When I bought my Spyder from a Porsche owned OPC they wouldn’t allow my detailer on site, so I asked if they could leave the Swisswax off and I drove it straight to Reep upon collection.

Remember also that it’s best you get the detailer to wash/maintain your car monthly and avoid unwanted swirls etc.

Yes ... I would second that ! My OPC only offered the Gtechniq Platinum Service ‘ in house ‘ which although cheaper does not include the Full CSU Black ( Crystal Serum Ultra + EXO ) protection for the Body and Gtechniq Wheel Armour .
I have now had this Full Ceramic ( only ) protection on my current Spider and previous 718 GTS through Bellissimoto Detailing in South East London . Their quality of finish is absolutely perfect and highly recommended .
Ceramic protection does not protect the front from stone chips as does the PPF wrapping but does protect and enhance the car in most of the Porsche colours . Since December 2020 my Spyder has picked up ( suffered ) one bonnet chip and two windscreen chips ( soon to be repaired by Autoglass ) .
PS ... Bellissimoto also do PPF Wrapping , Swissvax and Xpel Treatments .
NB. I have NO affiliations with Bellissimoto ... only as a satisfied returning customer .

Or just learn to wash the car properly yourself!

BTW, snap on the Youtube videos front! Don't think there's a video out there which I did not see on the 718 Spyder and that includes the Python Green one undergoing it's PPF!

Talking about PPF, what's the general opinion on here? Is it worth having or just Ceramic coat it and bite the bullet on any stonechips and get them repaired. I was talking to a friend and was told it can be around £3k for a full PPF and around £2k for partial.
I have had lots of cars done with PPF, and would highly recommend it, (if stone chips are a problem for you) if you dont mind stone chips then dont waste your money. I would say most people I know buying new high end cars have the full front PPF or the whole car, its expensive, but makes resale easier as cars paint is perfect (AND ORIGINAL - which is a big thing with some people)

just had the front bumper , bonner, mirrors, front wings, A Pillars, roof line, sills, rear quarter, leading edge of rear bumper done on the GT4, £1800 at incredible detailing, quality was perfect . Previously I had only used Reep, but they have whacked their prices up as they have a deal with sytner so were no longer giving, 20% discount to porsche club members. so they were like £400 more expensive and further away. 2 years ago, it was just under £1500 to have the same work done by reep on my 991RS,

regards
Scott.

Well my PEC invite came through today. Bookings for Aug/Sept. Car should be here in July! On a previous Porsche purchase, it happened before car spec lockdown so it was possible to ask questions/try options you were considering. Ah well, guess it’s Covid related and should be glad I got one at all.

I need to give my OPC a kick, zero comms and no PEC invite as yet. I know of two other people with same spec lock date as me (24th March) who've had confirmation their car has been built and will be at the dealer in May, yet no news on mine.

While I'm not in a rush, etc. it would be nice to get some updates

Some OPCs don't bother with PEC in fact I have a couple of drive days outstanding.

You can contact them yourself directly and arrange the drive at your convenience.

No wonder you can't get a 718 Spyder in the UK. They're all going to China along with the 2.0T engines!
