The new 718 Gt4/Spyder are here!
Discussion
Just did mine to the same spec as the GT4 i have now and its almost £98k infact if i add club sport it takes it to £58 short of £100k and then i need to add the largs sum off 1st year road tax to that.
Making me think as mine is below 5k miles and have run it in from new, whats the point ?
To me its not that much different to what i have and with the difference in price between the 2, i am thinking more to tuning the old one up to remove the engine holding back tune and then just keeping it.
Also the spider looks more interesting to me this time round, but then i dont think i would jump from mine to one and would rather get rid of the boxster for one.
But great to see a new cars

Well i've just configured my spec online and its coming out at £98,429 for a clubsport car with the extras I wanted. Getting very close to 991.1 GT3 territory at that price

That's as expected surelywww.porsche-code.com/PLVCLIV6
The headline £75k is attention grabbing but in no way real world

For those of you that dont speak german you can put the auto translate on the subtitles.
Andreas defines it as an engine unique to these two cars but using parts from others. Seems to be an 8k limiter.

Live on configurator now without taking back door , just specd spyder to a good level ie buckets(folding of course) led lights leather etc ,2zone climate £80k.
The previous model with a reasonable spec. was circa £67k but buckets were free and led lights would have cost more!
Off to compare gt4 with old one

Gt4 comes in at £82k , GT silver , leather,2zone,went adaptive seats as no folding buckets (yet) don't like 918 style, parking sensors which you never got on old one and led lights plus red belts and few other bits.
Cost over my old 981 is about £8-9k.
Personally don't think you have to spend more than £82k on either gt4/spyder to get a well specd car!

At those prices and a longer production run I can see the 981 cars prices slipping.
£80-85k for a nicely specd 718gt4 / spyder why pay more than £70k for the older model
yes I commented the other day (on the other thread) that the old GT4 will plummet in value, for which I was laughed at. They will hit £50K in a year.£80-85k for a nicely specd 718gt4 / spyder why pay more than £70k for the older model

My take on it was the 987.2 was the last of the caysters to own until the 981gt4/spyder came along, the 718/4 bolstered 981/6 prices now that's about to all change especially if a 718/6 makes its way to the market
I just specced a new GT4 identically to my old one in GR,PCCBs and LWBs which came to £87221 which is exactly £10530 more..Seems pretty reasonable to me considering four years have elapsed and the pound vs Euro has weakened considerably..
This time around i'm getting a 718 Spyder to replace my existing 981 Spyder as i think it'll complement my imminent GT3 RS WP better than a GT4 would..I only need one track focused Porsche with harnesses at any one time and the RS will do that very nicely..

I think if you have owned a 981 gt4/ spyder since new and have sold it the cost to change is minimal ie from selling my car 18 months ago (prices haven't slipped much since) it would have cost me £3-4K plus tax extra to get into a 718 gt4 with its 3 year warranty and no service costs for 2 years and if you are looking to get into a secondhand gt4 then at the current prices it's a no brainer to go for the 718.

Obviously values will be affected but 50k, no chanceMaybe 65k at the very bottom end in 12 months but cant see them falling further than that

I agree, plus you now get a 64ltr tank, Bluetooth phone, Sat Nav, DAB and Sound Package Plus for free which would have cost you circa £4k last time, so it's only a £6k difference. Options prices look broadly similar to me, no big price hikes, so the only real difference is in the base price but you now get more included.freedman said:

I'm pleased to say I have been phoned to say that I have an allocation in the first batch (my OPC is getting 4). So excited!
I've been patiently watching the classifieds for the perfect 997.2 GT3 and it hasn't quite materialised, so it's nice to see I can spec up a GT4 really well and still be no worse off. Plus there's no need to worry about the issues that might creep in on a 10 year old car.
For those curious:
- An email of intent was sent well over a year ago
- I have history with the OPC (5 or more cars bought)
- I bought a car from them this year (just a Macan Diesel)
- I missed out on the last GT4 (and they knew it)
- I nagged 'my' salesman (in a light hearted way!) relentlessly
- A "please please please" email was sent to the Dealer Principal
- The Dealer Principal then consulted with 'my' salesman, and I got the call this afternoon
I now have to sell my Performante, and look forward to getting back into a proper Porsche!
