Finally, after years of hassling my OPC I have a £5K deposit on a Spyder! It’s not an allocation yet, but I am currently third on his list. He assures me he will only take a deposit if he is certain it will turn in to an allocation, so fingers crossed!
Assuming I do get an allocation, what is the typical time before spec lockdown and eventual delivery?
Thanks

T
My dates if that helps, obviously the latter ones could still change.

Ordered - September 2020
Spec Lock Down - 7th June
Bodyshop – 9th July
Completion – 16th July
German Port - 23rd July
Arrive in the UK - 30th July
OPC - 6th August

Hope you managed to get a confirmed build!

Impressive, great video. The costs involved must be huge?

Did a fairly long drive down to Goodwood FOS in the GT4 at the weekend, so 160+ miles return trip. Engine is starting to loosen up quite nicely over 1,600 miles now. The exhaust noise also seems to be getting a little better..

The drive was a mix of mainly motorway and back roads, however I was so surprised on the fuel economy, which generally does not bother me, but there and back on just over half a tank, that is borderline efficient!

Some dilemmas I want to share and have opinions from forum members;

I've been offered a slot from my OPC (the Netherlands) on either a 992 GT3 or a GT4 RS (both to be expected next year)

What would you do?

992 GT3 has very good reviews

GT4 RS will be the uber Cayman

I always liked the Cayman more than the 911 range, as the car is smaller, nimbler, more compact than the meantime really bloated 911 (no offense)

Is the 911 GT3 so much more fun on the streets than my current 718 GT4? Is the price difference justified? I have doubts myself, some options and advice could be really helpful.

A GT4 RS for street use is just too much I think, I only use the car for street use, not a track lover

Reactions much appreciated !

Pure street use? I'd stick with what you've got.

I'd also take the offer of a GT4RS and flip it for a profit. They're going to be hot property.

992 GT3 will not become rare

GT4 RS will become uber rare

you could flip the Gt4RS and probably buy a Gt3 with the profit. Hardly a dilemma.

If you forget the BBS (MR) wheels then the KW suspension + aero add ons and brake modifications are all rather normal priced for those items. The KW suspension is not cheap, but this would be also the case for a M3.

For street I would prefer a manual gearbox. GT4 RS will be PDK only and then its ruled out for me (on the street). For track I would prefer the GT4 RS, but you don't do track so no point in going for a GT4 RS. So 718 GT4 vs 992 GT3..the difference will be rather big in terms of performance (and price). But can you really enjoy a 992 GT3 fully on the street (it's so capable)? In my opinion; the GT3 will truly shine on track and that is where most of the time I personally would want to use it (I drove some GT3 RS's in the past).

When doing street driving or (public) mountain roads, for me it's nicer to have a smaller car that takes less place on the road then something that's wider with more power. When driving fast with a GT3 (on the street) you are only using a small percentage and this can gets frustrating. When doing the same pace/speed with the GT4 you will need to push the car harder....which for me is more fun. My (slightly) modified M2 is faster, more grippy then our Alpine A110 (certainly on track). Still on public roads and certainly on mountain drives I enjoy the less powered Alpine A110 more then the faster, bigger M2. Because the A110 is smaller, slower and I need to push/work it harder (which the car wants and likes). On track I do like the bigger, more powerfull M2 more.

So after putting my deposit down at the beginning of May ‘21 for a GT4 (which I put a letter of interest in back in September 2017 😂) my freeze point has moved from this Thursday to the 27th August, is this a bad sign for the expected delivery of 08/10? Thanks smile

Sounds like your order has been moved to after the summer shutdown. You will probably end up with an MY22 car which may have different options and pricing...

Special position to be in... of course only you can choose.

We don't know what the GT4 RS will be yet.... even if it's a super special.... hard to think it will be directly on par with 992 GT3 performance for less money... but if you're not tracking at all... then performance delta between the two is largely irrelevant.

You just have to go with your gut really and what immediately grabs your attention, and what you prefer.

I do think a 992 GT3 might be a 'better' street car than the GT4 RS - as it has the new 992 interior and overall a larger, more luxurious place to be in - new version go the infotainment and technology... and you'll have the full fat GT engine.

Performance Kit is in the region of 15k Euros + Install costs + Tax, according to Manthey price list for:
  • Suspension Kit (KW Competition 3-way Damper + Spring - c6200 Euro + Tax, on its own),
  • Brake kit,
  • Aero kit
  • Mesh guard set
Optional Wheels according to Manthey price:
  • c7.5K Euro + Tax
Of course you might be able to source some of this stuff from other places for different prices.

If it was me for a road car I would try and get a 992 GT3 Touring.

Thanks for all replies !

Stiil verry much struggling.

GT4RS seems a bit mor special to me, I`m anxious to see how the RS is priced compared to a GT3

A lot of food for thought on my side :-)

I suspect it'll be priced almost exactly between the GT4 and GT3, so around £100k here in the UK without options.

That's what Porsche do...

How that decision is keeping you up at night amazes me. The profit on the GT4RS will make a huge dent towards a GT3.
