A poor situation mobil1 at the time when you think you are locked in the system and nearly there. Aside from the usual price increase for MY22, have they told you what changes MY22 brings? Surely they should be advising you before you finally lock in.

If you have a Porsche code from MY 2021, sticking it in the configurator now will prompt it to ask you to move to a MY 2022 and highlight the changes smile

I think this is good outcome, I would always prefer one of the first of a new model year in a new colour, than one of the last of the previous model year. Also Shark Blue looks great on all the GT3 videos that flooded on to youtube at midnight.

Pricing of the car/options and a couple of colour changes I think. Nothing significant AFAIK.

Well I've just had a bombshell of a phone call.........

Due to parts supply issues, Porsche have cancelled my car! Not postponed but yes cancelled it. Salesman says there's just a white blank box on his system where the car order once sat. They also said they are sorry about it. You can imagine my feelings on it.

The silver lining to the cloud is - and I really don't know how this is working anymore - they are able to slot me into another car. I will now be getting a MY2022 car (July build apparently). So my cost price has gone up but as I had enquired about Shark Blue, it is now orderable to me. They are prepared to offer a full refund if I am not happy about paying the extra for a MY2022 car,

What do you guys think about this whole episode and on Shark Blue?
You are not on your own. Exactly the same call yesterday on my B25 which was due in build next week, which was already a delay of 2 weeks, car originally should have entered build this week. Order completely cancelled, removed from system, new allocation offered for July build with probably Sept delivery. Obviously now a MY22 car at the new prices etc.
I am extremely pissed off and it just shows that until you actually see the car in the flesh it’s not real.
Not sure what I am going to do yet, i may just bank my deposit and keep the Spyder.

Forgot to say reason quoted was the shortage of semi conductors. So no doubt my semi conductors have been rerouted to far more important cars such as the 992GT3 grrrrrr

Yes certainly do and the only 2 items that change are the car list price and the rear sensor/reverse camera. Everything else stays the same.

So did not hear back from Porsche Customer Services but the OPC sent me the details for my MY2022 car clearly hightlighted on their system with the Comm number. Vehicle dates to be confirmed next week but Alloc date shows as 7/21 on their system.

Someone asked about the OPC that I am dealing with. I would rather not say at this point of time as I do not wish this OPC to unfairly get a bad rep as I firmly believe that this was an action of Porsche UK and not the OPC. Indeed, it was the OPC who suggested that I talk to Porsche UK to ascertain why this has happened as they are just as bewildered by it as I am. I am just happy and relieved that they not only managed to get me another car but sent through the details confirming just that. It's a one month delay after all. Just happens that this one month delay pushes me into MY2022.

On the Shark Blue front, I think that I will just stick to my original choice. The yellow interior worked great with the GT Silver and Yellow PCCBs and it took me a long time to get it right for me. Briefly playing with configurator again this afternoon, the only interior colour which works imo is silver. The yellow/blue and red/blue combo just doesn't look right. Plus the wheel colour would need to be changed as well. Yellow interior is now a must have for me. Plus I'm all configurator'd out!

Sorry to hear. There a few b25 coming next month. But not mine unfortunately. I’ve too been told July. Well pissed off.

Well i’m certainly hoping i don’t get a phone call from the dealer now, which is a complete about turn from how i was feeling last week. I figured they’d cancelled orders not yet locked down, but Big Mowley’s example changes that.

Well this is really beginning to surprise me. I thought it was an isolated incident with me but now this. Maybe it’s a new Covid way of life and something that is going to be more common in the near future.......

I think with the semi conductor shortage, and the ~1000 engines that need new con rods, it's really screwed up Cayster 4.0 production. Remeber also that these are the "dirty" engine cars, so cancelling or delaying them helps bring the fleet average emissions down. Therefore there's a knock-on bonus if moving production drops them into a later reporting period if you're close to or over the limit in the current period.

I wouldn't want to be in Porsche's shoes at the moment - it must be a nightmare keeping their (frankly awesome) just-in-time production process running.

No wonder you can't get a 718 Spyder in the UK. They're all going to China along with the 2.0T engines!

Didn't realise the Chinese Spyder was only 300hp?

Glad we don't have their pricing structure!

718 Boxster £62.5k 250ps
718 Boxster S £88k 350ps
718 Spyder £82k 300ps

911 Carrera £141k 385ps
911 Carrera S £163k 450ps
911 Turbo S £260k 650ps

Ditto, my B25 now scheduled for July build, August/Sept delivery. Build was originally planned for May.

I know - would perhaps consider a late used, but want PDK and there are none about. In fact there are no BGTS 4.0 in the used network last time I looked. Porsche residuals, (911/718 4.0), will remain high this year. Will have to remain patient..

I feel your anguish. It’s a waiting game. Just seems to keep getting put back month after month.

Yes it looks as if this chips shortage is pretty serious as JLR has just announced UK production to be suspended. Obviously now drastically affecting car manufacturers.
